5 teams on the schedule with new Head Coaches (VT, Miami, UVA, UGA, Ga Southern) plus Pitt changing OC. That's a dream schedule for a 9th year coach. If CPJ can't get it done this year, then it's time for him to throw in the towel.
He's really super down to earth. I've coached his daughter in golf for 4 years (she's pretty good too). I really don't think he knows how much we as Tech fans view him in high esteem. When I talk to him, I honestly forget that he is a GT celebrity. I've coached football, baseball, and golf...
Clemson has also played UGA, FSU, and Louisville. We haven't faced a defense of that caliber this year. VT's defense is the closest thing and they aren't what they have been in the past.
You mean Chad Morris who is calling plays with 3 back up OLinemen, a Freshman RB, 2 Sophmore WRs, and a QB making his 4th career start? Oh and 4 turnovers including 2 inside the redzone? Yeah, he must be terrible...
I coached baseball as well. People don't realize how well he can run either. We had to hit him at lead off his soph - sr year, because everyone wanted to pitch around him. It was better to have 4 people to knock him in than 1 when they walked him. We played for the State Championship his...
Traditionally our most talented position has been at WR. We have always been able to go out and land good WRs for as long as I can remember. Now we run a system that doesn't use them...
Was ranked 84 DT by Scout. That's a 3 star by today's standards. It's well known that Scout changed their star ranking criteria a few years back.
Oh, but Rivals did have him as a 3star, 44th ranked DT. Pretty strong...
BS. He was foreign born and was behind in HS credits. Has nothing to do with GT being tougher to get into than it was 10 years ago. Quit making excuses.
That's 2 more than CPJ has been able to get in the last 7. Mansfield Wrotto wasn't to bad either. CPJ has whiffed on plenty on the recruiting trail btw. I'm sure it wasn't for what Cutcliffe mentioned though...
Gailey was a poor hire. Pro style offenses don't work in the college game unless you have superior talent. The CPJ hire was good in theory, but has hurt us in the long run. CPJ was hired to do more with what we had. Instead he has done the same with less. Face it Cutcliffe was right.
Hope you are right. I just think the philosophy of taking LBers and blowing them up to make them DE's, and DE's blown up to be NG's, and NG's blown up into 3 Techniques is part of our problem. I see both Henderson and Glanton as NGs.
CPJ is the HC. He is ultimately responsible for the offense, defense, and special teams. Firing a 3rd DC is not going to solve the problem. CPJ has had 7 years to right the ship. How many more does he need?
