  1. Juanyeh Thomas has entered the NFL draft

It's his stride. He's big and, even when he's at full speed, he doesn't look like he is moving all that fast. But … you're right; he may have lost a step since he put on some weight. But that's easy to take care of.
  2. Adonicas Sanders has entered the transfer portal

Adonicus was a fine player for us. He could get open most anytime he wanted; the problem was getting our QBs to get him the ball. Thanks for your play for Tech, Adonicus! And good luck from all of us, no matter where you end up.
  3. JAYBO SHAW

Ah, HAH! That explains it. I watched the East-West high school game this weekend and, when Stockton was in the field, I knew I was watching a guy Paul would have pulled out every stop to get to Tech. It was like watching Tim Byerley again; he didn't look like he was doing much, then, all of a...
  4. Juanyeh Thomas has entered the NFL draft

I think Juanyeh will make it in the pros. He is easy fast enough and they like guys his size these days at DB since the pro WRs are mostly Godzilla clones. If nothing else, he'll do as a return specialist. Give him a hole and good things happen. Thanks for your time at Tech, Juanyeh! You were...
  5. RTR

Hate for Bama = the top fo Shaq's head, Hate for Georgia = his ankles. Let's keep our priorities straight here.
  6. Poll: What do you hope to see next season?

    1. No question. 2. Players always seem to love their coaches. It's easy to see why; a disgruntled player will not see the field. Further, coaches are a major reference for players after they leave the program. What you need is opinions from players after they have been in their first job...
  7. Pnode to ODU as OC

I always thought Patenaude was doing pretty much what Collins told him to. His offenses before he came to Temple were very run oriented and pretty successful. But then he switched to a more pass oriented, "balanced" offense. I think this was done more for recruiting purposes then anything else...
  8. IF THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENS

See: The more the better, I'd say.
  9. IF THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENS

As I've said before, the only outcome for any game between Bama and Ugag that would satisfy me is if both teams and coaching staffs came down with uncontrollable diarrhea as they ran onto the field and had to retreat in haste to their locker rooms with the game forfeited. But no such luck so...
  10. Getting Specific about Improvement

I would spot something different that I've mentioned before. This year the Braves won the World Series and won at a 67% pace after the all star break. Why? The players were very specific about it: analysis. By that they meant that the team had sold out on using numbers instead of intuition to...
  11. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

You should look on the bright side. You didn't have Carl Dejerassi as a prof (he was the main developer of birth control pills). Once he asked students in one of his advanced classes to write our the most difficult question they could think of and promised to use them in their final exam...
  12. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

I've gotten to where I can hardly listen to a college football game anymore. The commentary is notoriously fact free happy talk aimed at at that part of the audience that knows very little indeed about football and making fans fro both sides feel good. When I think back to Lee Grosscup, John...
  13. Throwing on First Down

You're right, but I was talking about regular football teams. If I had Stroud or Bryce, I'd be tempted to throw on every down too. But up against the usual suspects both Bama and OSU run the ball. Head to head, they'd probably pass a lot, mainly because they'd figure the Ds could handle the run...
  14. Throwing on First Down

Bingo. If the D is up to snuff, it probably (depends on the opponent) doesn't matter much what you do on first down. If it isn't, then you have problems whatever you do. One thing, however: teams with a strong running game usually win in games with pure passing teams. ToP does count.
  15. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

I agree about luck. And I would have been really down on Paul for the 2018 season. Except that we won 7 games, finished second in the Coastal with a 5-3 ACC record, and went to a bowl game. I agree that we had some bad luck this year; we could have gone 6 - 6 or better if the ball bounced our...
  16. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

You left out losing Benson - who had over 100 yards rushing already - at the start of the 2nd quarter against USF. Healthy Benson = at least 2 more wins, one against USF, in 2018. Just plain bad luck; it was the second straight year we lost our starting BB at the beginning of the season. Now you...
  17. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Again, you're the one who started this by making patently rediculous claims about Paul being passed by (whatever that means) by P5 football. I never said I wanted Paul back - though now I'd take him in a New York minute - and I don't think he wants to give up his leisure time. All the present...
  18. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

    1. Just about the same as everyone else against those two teams, iow. And, I might note, the offense wasn't on the field while the those points were being run up. I never said our D was all that special. 2. You're the one that brought up Clemson and Ugag, not me. And yes, both Puke and...
  19. Building the Offensive Line

I've said this before. The performance of an OL depends a lot on the kind of offense it has to block for. Paul's O was formulated to make things easy for OLs: yard-wide splits, tons of deception to freeze LBs and DBs, four potential RBs on every play, lots of planned double teams, WRs who were...
  20. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Oh well, since you insist: Oh, and the reason I didn't post those losses is that, if you recall, in 2018 Clemson was the undefeated national champion and Ugag went 11 - 3. Or, to put it another way, 99% of all football teams in the country would have lost to those teams. By that reasoning the...
