I think I agree. The goal isn't too win the next game, it's to win the regional. If we pitch Hurter against Indiana St and win, then lose to Vandy with Archer, what's the next move? We'll need to beat Vandy eventually. Gotta shoot our shot.

Yes, which is kind of crap. But it's not just ranking the teams and matching then up accordingly. The committee also looks at things like travel distance, avoiding rematches, etc.

Wouldn't it be nice if state played us as game 2 of a doubleheader...

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I think there's some room to move up here. Beating NCSU, and potentially winning the ACC may not net us a 1-seed, but would surely pair us with a lower seeded host.

I think they look at overall series wins, too. For instance, in 2019 we went 2-1 in about every single series. So we had a great 'series record' and a pretty damn good conference record. The committee liked that, and we got the overall #3 seed in the NCAAs. This year, we have a couple sweeps...

Yes - just make it a single elimination tournament where the top four seeds get a first round bye. That's essentially what were already playing. But we now have four extra, completely meaningless games added on. The only team we need to beat to advance is the winner of Clemson/Louisville...

Ole miss may have just ended the dwags' season. From down 5-1 in the 8th, to winning 8-5 in the 11th.
