I think it’s a terrible generalization to say players care about the number of wins. Did the number one player in the country go JSU because the number of wins? Me thinks it’s the number in front of the dollar sign. And I think that’s going to become a much bigger factor going forward for a lot...
Not to hijack the thread even more with NIL talk, but can somebody remind me if they can be performance based? Like for Waffle House, any time a lineman gets a “waffle block” (can’t use pancakes for Waffle House), the linemen gets a prize of X, or certain amount of money.
I normally try to not be doom and gloom, but right now it’s impossible. Does any of the coaches really matter right now? With a bad year seemingly impossible to avoid, it means that we will more than likely be looking for a whole new staff next year anyway. I mean this job seems like a filler...
A conference that has been carried by Oregon? And then what happens when that team gets blown out, and your left wondering “that’s the best in the conference? How bad must everybody else be?”
One more thing to think about. With our champion more thank likely being the lowest, do we really want them getting killed by the number one seed? Would that make the ACC look better because “we had a team in the playoffs”? It’s probably better to have nobody talk about you than to only have bad...
I truly do not think people who had no ACC or school ties would have watched the Pitt wake game even if it had playoff implications.
That’s like watching some bottom tier basketball conference with an automatic bid. Sure, they get in, but does anybody care how?
And then they will get the 12...
The way I look at it is, Bamas connections might be worth equal to a fancy degree. I’ll be honest, the closest I came to Going to tech was some adult data science boot camp, so I’m not going to know a true GT degree helps. But we all know of the mysterious Alabama Bagmen. You will be able to...
I mean I believe that we have more money, but does that mean we are going to simply spend more than we are now, or actually compete with those schools in spending?
No no, these schools are not in the same boat we are. They can spend much more money than we can. And that makes a big difference when putting a full staff together
I agree that there’s openings every year. But how many times is it USC west coast, Oklahoma, lsu, Florida, Virginia tech, possibly ole miss, Miami, etc.
and then you say we will need an up and coming coach, but that’s kind of what we did now and look how well that turned out.
I think there’s one angle that I haven’t seen talked about yet. I feel like right now would be the worst time to fire Collins. Before anybody throws stats at me, just please follow me here. This off-season, how many of the big boy schools are looking for a head football coach? I’m going to say...
I look at these situations with a sense of a stonewall Jackson’s analogy about religion, but I think it applies here. Let’s suppose you’re right, and he leaves. Other than you being “correct” about a take before it happens, how is this good for anybody? You want a congrats for calling him...
Dude have a little class. I don’t care what you think of him or how many trophies your armchair coaching has, there is no need for that. Wanting him fired is much different than telling him to screw himself with his phone. If you can’t get that, you might as well be a mutt fan.
I think I should clarify, because you’re absolutely right. Nobody wants him to fail. My thought is that more people don’t want him to be the one succeeding going forward
oh am I? What assumptions have I given? I have given nothing but options. If you’re saying that I’m give to an an assumption that people don’t want GCC to be the one to succeed, I have gathered that information from looking at the length of this thread.
Oh I think everybody wants it to get turned around, but I don’t know how many people want CGC to be that guy anymore. And I mean it’s hard to argue against stats with the argument of hope
I’m in the minority that hopes it CGC that can get it turned around, if nothing else for redeeming what he got GT football in. But I also cant say that he hasn’t broken the GT football program. From bad hires, to sticking with guys that haven’t shown much, to driving down the fan base. It’s bad...
