A win beats a loss any day. At least we are guaranteed an ACC game now. Hopefully get to #10 seed.

If we score 8 earned runs every game we have a great shot. What I liked is we had no errors.

Sure we gave up a lot of hits (12), but only 2 walks and one HBP tonight versus 4 SOs. Giving up 7 runs loses most games. But this wasn't most games fortunately.

After BC's win, GT win, Pitt loss, FSU win, Duke win, NCST win today (VT and Miami postponed tonight):

6) NCST 15-13
7) Miami 13-13
8) FSU 13-14
9) Duke 12-16 (Duke holds tiebreaker)
10) GT 11-17
11) ND 10-18 (ND holds tiebreaker)
12) VT 9-18 (GT holds tiebreaker)
13) BC 9-19
14) Pitt 8-20 (GT holds tiebreaker)

We are now guaranteed to be above Pitt and ND or BC since they play each other. Assuming we have the tiebreaker over BC, then we are guaranteed at worst 12th, but the best we can likely finish is 10th (could do better but we would have to sweep UVA). I've heard the tiebreaker after head to head is record vs highest seeded common ACC opponent (which would go to us since we beat UNC 1 game and they got swept---we both got swept by Lville). So, let's root for a BC sweep and a Miami sweep now...I think.

I had to check out some stats to see the size of the gift UVa gave us in 6 unearned runs this year. It was massive (duh).

According to NCAA stats (http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv...emicYear=2017&rptType=PDF&doWhat=showrankings)
After 51 games, UVa had given up 228 runs with 199 being earned runs. Team ERA was 3.94 and 66th in NCAA.

All year in 51 games, there were 29 unearned runs which is .57 unearned runs a game. So we got 10 times the average. Or about 20% of the yearly total last night.

GT is #173 in team ERA at 5.09. We have given up 39 unearned runs, = 291 total runs - 252 earned runs.

Of course these stats don't even include when UVa walked the bases loaded to start the 8th! Or all our walks that later score.

There must be something in the water at the Rusty C!

Need to move that water line to the visitor dugout only.

Last night, I kept thinking "So this is how it felt as an opponent playing Ga Tech this year"... for about a dozen or so of our losses.

No doubt there are a ton of UVa fans saying "7 runs should be enough to win a baseball game". And they would be correct. I thought we'd win one out of three at home against UVa and still think that (just like last weekend I thought we'd win one of three at Duke).

We'll go 1-1 in the ACC Tournament (at best) and then be done with this season.
