Multiple Kickoffs didn’t go past the 10. I would say that’s a pause for concern with our new “defensive juggernaut” status
I much prefer Wells, but I will say that King was instructed to kick it short. IIRC he did "sky kicks", which are short but high, so the KO team can get down there and minimalize the return. He was instructed to do this because Horne housed 2 against us last year on normal KOs.

Dude we gave up 10 points !
Do you seriously think/believe yelling money down improved the play of the defense? I'm pretty sure it was the off season workouts, better coaching, and the determination of the players that made them better. We tackled better than any GT team has in the past several years today. Somebody is not going to be yelling Money Down when we play away games.

Above The Line means you’ve been performing well enough to play, and you should see playing time.

Whether you’re in the first series or a different series has more to do with what the coaches want to accomplish than who’s the “best” player.

If we had Tom Brady, he’d be above the line, bad taco or not.

You say that, but Wells has never missed a kick and somehow lost his playing time. Obviously using Tom
Brady as an extreme, facetious example, but my point is sometimes a player is good enough that he needs to be the guy, regardless.

I like the ATL in principle, btw. Just a thought.

They called 3rd down on offense "money down" too, and it sure didn't seem to help.

Hard to believe we won that game. Thanks to USF they literally beat themselves. Our offense is God awful. Terrible play calling. Our offensive staff is not getting the most out of what talent we do have. I told someone earlier, when you have 3 quarterbacks it means you do not have a quarterback. Pick one and stick with it. This rotation BS is destroying any chance these kids have to be effective. I' will take the win but if we do not get some things straight on offense, we won't win many more this year.

Go Jackets!

Before the season, I said that we would look like chickens with our heads cut off on O for several games. Sure enough. I was also hoping that I'd be wrong; no such luck.

I do think that we'll slowly get better on O. What we need is an offensive identity. Right now, the coaches can't seem to figure out what kind of a team we'll be. I hoped that we would start to channel Bill Synder on O and I still think that would a good way to go. We don't have a QB who can run a pass heavy shotgun. We do have young men who can run a KSU-style shotgun. I think that will be what we end up doing. The first step was taken today: Mason got the required number of carries.

Bottom line: the D improved over last week and can save our bacon for the next two weeks. By then we might have things sorted out on O.

As a friend of mine said last year, our offense has Sunbelt level talent (a bit of a stretch.... maybe...) and it’s showing. Losing 2 OL early hurt us and we have to find an identity, but I think we just need to get used to an offense that struggles this year. I hope it gets better, and it definitely can, but it’s going to be an uphill climb. I like a couple players, but we need a major talent upgrade at most positions and it will take at least a year or 2. Our best offensive player left... anybody else watching Braun hold his own against LSU tonight? Ezzard, Simba, Gibbs, Gleason, and hopefully a couple of those OL recruits will make impacts next year. Gonna take time.

Defense has made awesome strides with tackling and assignments already. We’ve recruited much better on that side of the ball over the last few years but I’m encouraged at how well we’re maximizing the talent we do have. Granted USF is not good... Looking forward to seeing what this side of the ball can look like in 2 or 3 years. But here’s the thing, our D will take its lumps this year too. In modern college football even really good defenses get exposed by good offenses and we’re not a really good defense yet. Hopefully they can help us win a few more this year though.

I was at Clemson, was there today, and will be at all but 1 home game this year. Might be a long season, but I’m ride or die, Go Jackets!

Do you guys actually think the announcer yelling Money Down really helps the players? lol

If that’s the case, CGC needs to come up with a unique name for third down for the offense...and maybe first and second down while we’re at it.
You could make it the "Jiffy Lube" third down, "Taco Bell" first down maybe even "Waffle House " second down ...
the first two were what was at staples center in the old Indoor Football League many years ago
and yea those companies pay a bit for that, ( real money downs )

I totally believe we are seeing hesitation out of LJ because he isn’t getting the reps he needs. He made the correct read on the batted interception and he bailed out s our big time on the 3rd and 12 deep on our end.

Of course TO looks good when he is running but we are going to have have a QB who can pass also. I like TO. But it’s f he was put in on 3rd and 10 on half way f his plays we would be asking Why he looked hesitant also.

Again 21 passes and I think 51 runs today
I'm not sure who the right qb is, I just know the old adage "if you have 2 qbs you have none" seems even more true with 3

You heard correctly. No "steam whistle" for first downs, nor do I recall hearing it when we scored a TD. (But I may have been making too much noise when we did to hear it.)

It was used once near the start of the game. I think if we call it Money Whistle it will get used more.

Since we threw 9 total interceptions over those 2 years and are already at 3. Definitely true right

I don't think we completed more than about 50 passes either year lol. We were literally one of the worst teams in America at passing the ball. We were a joke.
Fact: When you throw it more, you'll have more INTs. I'll take Graham or LJ over what we had at QB in 2017 or 2018 when it comes to passing the football. No more back-foot dead ducks, please!
