Because they understand the difference between the way the world is and the way they wish the world was.Yeah... just the type of post I would expect from you. Not sure why one single supposed tech fan would like your post. Fortunately for you there are a lot of other Johnson fans as opposed to tech fans on this site.
“Who cares you guys are on the downward spiral. It’s where you should be.” That is the Johnson supporters mantra. Do your thing buddy.
So, understand that I'm a UVa fan here, so I come with a little different perspective, but:
What makes you people think you are entitled to anything more than slam average? Is there something special in the GT water where logic and basics go out the water and everybody is above average in everything?
If you took a school not named Georgia Tech, and gave it the exact same situation as Georgia Tech, how good would you EXPECT them to be?
Pros: Cool City, Fertile Recruiting Area, Storied History (several generations ago).
Cons: Cruddy Academic situation, unattractive majors, CLEAR 2nd level team in your own state, reputation as a boring/lame place to go to school, marginal facilities, marginal salary for coaching and recruiting
Essentially, you're Vanderbilt, or you're UVa.
So why do you believe that you're not? Why do you believe that "9 wins a year at a minimum" is a reasonable thing to say?
I PUT FORTH: you have been spoiled rotten with good coaches, going back to Bobby Ross. This is not because of anything your school particularly has to offer. You have just made a series of good hires. This has led you to believe that there is something at GT that there is not, and my strong belief is that with one crappy hire, you could EASILY be where UVA or Vanderbilt has been for the last 20 years.
You act like finishing .500 in the ACC is some given, and that going to a bowl is no accomplishment. I believe you are wrong, and I almost wish you would fire Johnson, and hire some scrub, just so you could see how unspecial your program really is.
You hear people talk about a businesses "fundamentals", and how sometimes you can outperform fundamentals, but usually not. GT's fundamentals are nothing special, and you should be GRATEFUL to be outperforming them for as long as you have.
Actually, he did. It was called the Orange Bowl trophy.Wow one recruit. Should he get a trophy?
True what good is it now. Stop living in the past.Actually, he did. It was called the Orange Bowl trophy.
I agree !! I didn’t become a gt fan when I was 10 years old because we kick *** in the classroom ! I for one like to kick it on the field & be able to wear my gt stuff with pride after we play ugaI get tired of the “well at least we graduate this amount of players and have this degree and that degree”
Maybe it’s because I didn’t go to Tech and just a sidewalk fan, or because I’m young but I’m not a fan of Tech for academics. I’m a fan of football. I’m super stoked that most of Tech’s students get a degree and graduate early, life is much more than football. But damnnnn son, can we at least look competitive consistently? Win some big games? It’s just frustrating when we lose or get embarrassed people revert to academics and such to highlight.
UT fans continually give to their program and their program continually sucks. As long as the donations flow in there is no reason to fix the problems.

True !! I think some people on here can live off that orange bowl win for 80 yearsTrue what good is it now. Stop living in the past.
I’ll answer. The reason I don’t advocate firing the coach is people act like this is a panacea. I’ve seen coaches come and go yet the basic equation never changes. Now if Stansbury steps up and says here’s my strategy to turn our sports programs around and it includes the multitude of beaten dead reasons AND it includes a staff change well then I’ll bite.Yeah... just the type of post I would expect from you. Which makes them mediocre fans.

How about we live in the present. GT is 7-5 and finished 2nd in their division in the coastal. That's a decent (not great) result for a program with crappy fan support, crappy facilities, and one of the lower paid coaching staffs in the P5.True what good is it now. Stop living in the past.
Because they understand the difference between the way the world is and the way they wish the world was.
Again: the team is almost EXACTLY at it's historical average. That is: since the beginning of Georgia Tech football, it has been, on average, a 7-5 program that loses to UGA.
That's been Georgia Tech for generations. To act like being 7-5 and losing to UGA is somehow a death spiral, when in fact it is 100% par for the course for the program is akin to getting mad at a high jumper because he can't fly.

We could have had Namath and Ditka and you name 'em. The stark daylight truth is we were outmanned at every position. Maybe not punter. After resigning myself to another slough, my biggest complaint is that those slugs at OSU are back in the race for one of the four spots. Harbaugh showed himself a pretender, again -- I gave up on us and watched part of that game. Michigan was slow and dumb, I mean dumb. the politicking will commence.Yes been Achilles heel all year and constant miss reads from the qb.
