Same reason it took two straight kickoff returns for a touchdown and a loss to realize the coverage team was too young. :banghead:

Lack of detail and oversite. Hopefully its being fixed now. But paul imo got lazy and relied too much on his assistants. It happens when u are 60. Intensity goes down etc. u become a bit more lax.
Didn’t know you were 60.

I thought this thread was about Wells.

It was. That same weird thing happened again that happens a lot here.

For some reason, people don’t want to talk about a kid kicking the ball straight and far.

Is this correct? Sounds like he only started kicking later in HS?

This is also an interesting write up. Sounds like his potential was still untapped at the time:

Thanks. His Chris Sailer picture sure makes me feel old!

He probably has only been kicking since HS. His HUDL goes back to 2016 and he joined in 2014. https://www.hudl.com/profile/3756269/Wesley-Wells

A 4.9 means that he was in a school where AP classes get a 5 for an A I think. Nothing like grade inflation; but the kid can kick.

I see he was a QB; so he can also play QB and quick kick if needed. (cue Brad Stewart discussions).

4.9 by any measure if phenomenal.

There’s high schools where you get a 6 for an A in college courses. Friend’s son graduated with a 5.4. Insane.

This kid has been a godsend for us so far. There’s something to be said for not having to worry about extra points, especially after last year. I know we haven’t had to count on him too much for fg’s so far, but it looks like he’s a confident kid that can handle it. He gets quick height on the ball and has really steadied our kicking game this year. Shawn has also been doing a pretty good job on kickoffs. Watching Bulovas for bama tonight made me think about what might have been, but he’s only 9-13 this year it looks like. However, not sure what distances are involved there. I’m interested in seeing how WW pans out for us after he gets more fg attempts, but he seems like a guy that may deserve a scholly at some point.
