Well if you are going to only play 6 - playing a zone is a great way to rest them.

Makes it even more important than normal to try to run some - where we can - and make them work as much as we can.

Another reason why I think many of own min per game concerns are overblown. We are a zone team too.

The other benefit of zone, particularly for Syracuse tonight, is you can hide foul trouble better. Where depth + fouls becomes an issue for Syracuse is they are a good, active offensive rebounding team. Tonight they might be more cautious with that aggression to avoid over-the-back and dumb fouls going for loose balls.

And to extend further :) for us it is a reason to get out and run and try to get them playing transition D where you can get them to foul out of position. If Tadric shows up and drives hard to the basket in transition he can be a foul creating machine.

I’ll be watching at Morris Peterson’s sports bar here in Flint. It’s great watching games with someone who played at that level and I’m gonna dig for some Izzo info.

I went BIG at + 1.5.. My biggest play on GT this season.

We lose this one, I will be disappointed. Big game coming from Tadric tonight.

Disappointed that I will not be able to make it down tonight. Let me know if you need 2 tix.

I am feeling like Syracuse picks this one off. Last year we seemed to be able to come through in crunch time. This year, we have folded again and again in crunch time (Grambling, Wofford, Clemson, to name top of mind). Maybe it is lack of maturity, maybe it is coaching, maybe it is luck of the draw, maybe it is regression to the mean.....I just don't see the pattern changing tonight. Here's hoping I am all wet.

I don't doubt it could happen. But just to be clear, we didn't fold at crunch time in all those games. We actually came roaring back at the end against Grambling and Clemson. Furthermore, against some of those teams we weren't playing with a full roster. And did you see Clemson beat North Carolina last night? They scored 82 points off of only 24 field goals. Let that math sink in for a minute. Yep, they were 15-30 from 3PT. Clemson was actually ahead by 16 points at half time. Its pretty hard to beat those numbers. Imagine taking 30 shots and coming away with 45 points from it. That's equivalent to shooting 75% from 2PT.

I agree with 100%. The Clemson game was not a "fold" by any definition.

I don't think Clemson was a fold either. Not going to put Grambling in that category as we should win that game with anything north of the walkons.
We have some nice pieces and in spurts play good basketball. I feel better about the D against Clemson after watching them beat UNC the same way. But we need to see the younger pieces step up over this game and the latter part of the season. First on my list is seeing Haywood not limp into McTit and see if he can hit some 3's. Tonight against the zone would be a great place to start - or really restart. Then we can see what Cole and Wright may have now. And whether Ogbondo actually does have a uniform under those warm ups he wears.
