I sent a tweet asking if they'd take the over or under of 7 wins for us next year. Both Rick and John said over. That's surprisingly high praise for a transition year and for them to be optimistic of tech. John even went on to say he loves the hire and think after a year or two that GT should be a top tier team.

I will say this blew my mind hearing from the local media being actually positive about the GT program. This collins hire has already paid off in ways haha.

I haven't even considered the schedule, but if he has 6-6 or better, I will consider it great for the first year.
Odd year means Clemson on the road and UGA at home, our kyptonite.

OOC is Temple at Temple, USF at home, UGA at home, and a triple option FCS team in the citadel at home, so 2 wins seems doable. but i wouldnt be surprised at 1-3 or 3-1.
Cross game is an improved NC STate
Duke at duke...
UNC at home
Pitt at home
VT at home
UVA at charlottesville....
Miami in Miami....

I'm shocked they would say anything good about GT but i'll happily accept the praise:cigar:

John Kincaid on 680 is gushing about Collins. Kincaid is a Philly guy and a Temple fan so he had perspective. Said it was a homerun hire for Tech. Had spent much of the show today talking about it!

Touch me! I’m dreaming! The media likes us again!

He said earlier “the one thing Coach Collins will never say is that we don’t recruit in the same living rooms as UGA. He may not get as many of those recruits but he will be in those living rooms and he will never admit they aren’t supposed to be there.” It fired me up. I’m sick of media and our own fans just accepting we need a service academy attitude to compete and accept we are just different. GT gon shine!

I think Coach Collins will help get Georgia Tech great media coverage with his great personality and how aggressive of a head coach that he is:cool:

Kincaid talking now about Collins being the only assistant coach in history to win 3 Broyles awards for best assistant coach in 3 different locations.

And he also just pointed out that people don’t realize “how damn hard that Temple job is” and that he holds the best record for the first 2 years in school history. So all of you that keep pointing out 7-5 and 8-4 as his records as a bad thing, the reality is that those two records are the best in history by a head coach for his first two years.

I think we've all lamented the lack of energy/buzz coming out of the program - esp over last few years. We may not view these media outlets as relevant, knowledgeable, whatever - but having people believe and communicate positive aspects of our program WILL result in changing brand attributes of GT football. Especially when they have a larger than most megaphone.

I do think CPJ is a brilliant tactician and a HOF coach - but he was an older, snarky, 'I know better than you' personality. Sorry - but it sounds like stereotypical perceptions of GT fanbase. I'm hopeful we hired someone that can be a catalyst for changing that (with ADTS, GTAA, etc).

My first year at GT was Gaileys last year, I remember the energy when CPJ was hired was just like the energy today. We had a strong start with CPJ, most people don't remember that. '15 season I believe was when that energy really fell out. It will be great to have that energy again

It surprised me how much he liked him.

You guys will really have your eyes opened now to how much Paul Johnson hurt GT off the field.

I wouldn’t crow too soon. I’d say that there is a decent chance that our OFEI goes down next year. Will you say then that your eyes are open to how much CPJ did for us on the field?

I’m excited about the change but I think we can talk up the new coach without bashing the old one. CPJ did great things at Tech.

I will not be surprised also if some of "you guys" have your eyes opened to how not having the system advantage will hurt ON the field. Maybe it is a wash. If we are very, very lucky, that (a wash) will be true by year 2 or 3.

I’ll take my chances going 7-5 with the spread and being able to recruit in the future, than 7-5 with the option and getting owned by Duke.
