Maybe Morpheus can generate a farewell message for Coach Collins that will be artistic, meaningful, and elite. I think something in writing, that can be edited and added to with some professional input, would be more effective, than watching him break down emotionally in front of the group or go rogue and tell them all he was railroaded and not given a chance. If it were like most of his press conferences it would be without much content and forgettable.

I'm not surprised, but I'd ask this:

Did anyone expect us to be much better than this after four games? Yeah, the number of blocked punts stands out, but most people did not believe we'd be better than 1-3 by this point...right? Did we think we'd play Ole Miss or Clemson much closer?

I was under the impression that the fanbase expectations were pretty conservative for this first quarter of the season. Is it just the quality of play everyone is seeing, rather than the scores and results?
It's just the lack of discipline to me. For 4 years Collin's teams have made stupid mental penalties, and that is 100% on him and the coaching staff to me. Special teams has been an area that we have sucked at since he became HC, and it just seems to be getting worse.

At the end of the day GT is not bama, they aren't uga, and they will survive with or without a good football program.

I was at the game
VT 2009
When Peterson got hired - the students presented him with a portion of the goal posts which they had torn down. Hired at a very high point for gt football.

CLEMSON 2016
Harrison hired Tstan - annouced at halftime - stats at half time iirc Gt 26 yds rushing Clemson 23 points. Hired at a low point even though gt had a good team after a terrible 15 team.

Peterson - many think hedid great things w rapid growth in enrollment, tech square and giant growth in research and international campuses.

Peterson -imo assumed football would grow - and 2014 sure looked like it.
As such Peterson hired Mbob who never saw a football game at previous jobs. After that he hired Tech football letterman Todd S - who actually tried to help cpj. As $$$ looked ominous , TS hired the guy that was too good to be true. ( Moonshot BS sells when you are broke). Then Harrision went on his way.

What Gt football needs is a president that makes it a top priority. Keep hiring AD till you find something close to homer rice

That's pretty ****ty if true. Why would the GTAA not allow him to talk to the team ? Only reason I can think of is that the school was so over this **** show already and somehow collins was angry ?

Well, if he was on campus today and met with Cabrera to be told he was fired (as the AJC reported), I imagine he wasn't very happy that the news leaked to the AJC before he was told. Wonder if he found out from social media? Wonder if the news leaking like it did had something to do with why TStan didn't survive to the BoT meeting?

Noim it's because the team was coached incredibly bad

All I know right now is that, par for the GTAA, this was VERY POORLY HANDLED...

At least based on Kens article yesterday. Collins was pretty told after the Ole Miss game he had a week to figure this out or he was gone. So I think collins had to have known it was coming

He was escorted to his car and not allowed to talk to the team. So far the GTAA has not handled this well. There are some initial reports surfacing that a large portion of players and their families are extremely unhappy about the way this unfolded and several are talking about transferring immediately. I have NOT been able to corroborate this beyond the initial source, but that source is reliable.
Surprising there is zero twitter chatter from the players on this.

and his Coaching ablility was VERY POORLY EXECUTED...

What does that have to do with how GT handles the separation? Are you just trying to get more shots in? Who cares how poorly executed the coaching was at this point, your job as an administration is to make the separation as clean as possible and minimize the damage. We have managed to pour jet fuel on a three alarm dumpster fire.

Your name checks out :ROFLMAO:! He DOES NOT have a better job, is his job in a P5 conference?
Things are changing. P5 vs G5 isn’t that important. A good coach with the portal can get a team top-25 in 2 years. If I were a coach, all I’d care about would be reducing the institutional friction that prevented me from winning.

That said - I would be ecstatic with Deion, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I think he likes where he is.

A search committee has been hired and the search for a new AD and Head coach has already began and is underway.

IDK, how hard will it really be to teach kids not to jump early on offense in the red zone or to find a kicker? How hard to scrap the Punt team scheme and start over with the same guys? How hard to find a coach that has competent clock management skills and knows to use the last 30 seconds of the first half to get into field goal range rather than let time run out?

Fixing the above likely won't get us to 6 wins but it is a great start to get us to 4 or 5. So meanwhile fix that and then work on the other issues like strength and blocking. Would only take a few years I think. Didn't take O'Leary very long, and I have to say that as dismal as the ACC is lately, maybe not even THAT long.
Excellent points. Unfortunately, that is precisely the kind of thinking used by the powers that be following Derek Dooly time at Tennessee. Another bad hire followed and before you knew it they had a real mess on their hands even with all the advantages that Tech could only dream about.

I think it is more that we have regressed 4 years in a row now, no sign of improvement at all. Results can come at different times but 4 years in you still have game management, roster, special teams, ext problems then its time to go.
Pretty much this. Team has never looked like it was getting even 70% of its true potential on the field. And it really hasn’t shown any sort of improvement.

I pretty much gave up on the Collins’ experiment after the Citadel game. That said, unless he made a scene and pitched a fit, I don’t see why he had to be escorted to his car and not allowed to see the players. That’s ****ty on our part, if there isn’t more to the story.

That said, I can’t help but find it kind of funny lol

Very high. He bought a ticket on the Titanic with the Collins pick, 7 year contract and buyout terms and then bought a return ticket to England an hour after it hit the iceberg with the “I’ve got my man” statement. Tough to survive that judgement in your biggest sport.
"I've got my man." Indeed. I think what he mean to say was that "My man has got me." Rolled faster than a drunk UGA fan at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.
