How do you figure he was down at the one? The ball was across the goal line when his knee touched on the one. I am pretty sure that where the ball ends up BEFORE a player goes down still counts as a TD.
It’s not that concerning to me yet, it’s a new system and only a few week into learning it. CNW pretty much said it’s the position that makes things work, so it’s probably a little harder to learn moving in over the center compared to some of the other positions. If we hear this half way through summer practices I will get concerned. I think it also helps that CPJ and some other players have given some praise to the guys there at NT.

Look at it this way: Woody’s App State defense was slightly better than Ted Roof’s GT defense against common opponents, and Woody had much less talent to work with. Our defense may not turn into a VT-level defense overnight, but there should be some improvement, and I think Woody has the potential to be the 3-4 version of Bud Foster.

I listen to that station regularly. Not a lot but regularly, still, while flipping around through 3 other stations throughout my day. My money is on the station's owner having told their on-air "talent" to say nice things about us. Some of their "talent" though tell the owner to f himself.
I don't want to "like" your post, because it might give the wrong impression of my thoughts. I definitely believe that Woody's defense will be better than Roof's, and I frankly expect evidence of that from the start. We may still get burned, but IMO it's a helluva lot better to get burned attacking than to get burned reacting. The more we attack, the sooner the big results will happen. I expect to see some of that attack mode in action Friday night.
It's spring. They're trying out everybody, especially on D. I think Coach is right in saying that he could pick a starting line-up today, but you want to give everybody a chance. That's why you suddenly see such notice of Chris Martin, for instance. He fits the new D very well, but I bet that either Glanton or Cerge-Henderson starts when fall rolls around. Oth, I doubt that a frosh will see the field on D next year except, maybe, at DB somewhere.
