The context I read that in was “compared recruit to 5* Tuitt, who Notre Dame flipped”—“that comparison won’t be valid until Notre Dame tries to flip this recruit too”—“hey! Where did you hear ND was trying to flip this recruit?”

Cheese can explain himself, and maybe should since this is my interpretation of what he was saying, but it’s possible you’re misreading his post(s)

It did create a dust up, though.

In the end, good class so far.

Maybe we can back off from DEFCON 2 down to DEFCON 4 for a bit? I don’t think CPJ fans are going to sabotage Collins when everyone just wants fun football. Aside from the weird WrecksAndEffects guy and that weird Twitter guy who “corrects” recruits who thank “University of Georgia Tech”. And that woman who took a player to the aquarium, and Ron Bell. So, mostly people are cool.

Time for another Dude photo

I never said or implied ND was trying to flip anybody in this class. I have no idea where that came from.

It was a little ackward with Andy saying the broadcast sponsored by Nissan at Mercedes Benz stadium. Not sure our sponsor appreciated that.

Anybody know or have any idea why they had the signing day broadcast from MBS and not at Tech?

I asked a friend at GTAA, and this was response: "Coach Collins wants to sell the city of Atlanta and felt that MBS was a perfect representation of the sales pitch. He didn't want our signing day show to look like any other school. Admin has a great relationship with folks over there, so it came together really quickly."

I’m just really concerned that this is going all show and no dough. I know I am going to get hammered for my fears. I hope I am wrong and I will be pulling for GT to win. The way some are talking about press conferences or radio interviews, in MY opinion is setting us up for failure in the future. We all joke that the puppies win the National Championship in recruiting every year. To listen to some, you would think we just won the N.C. of press conference and radio interviews. This non stop talk about the NFL makes me think about the VT N.C. case.

I know there is a reason to talk to recruit about helping them get to the NFL, but when it is always talked about all the time my Spidey senses go off. Professional I’ve dealt with sales repsthat just talk and talk that never deliver. I’ve played for many different types of coaches over my playing career and he just reminds me of some of those coaches that were all talk. Now if he had a better resume I would be a little more comfortable with the talk, but 2 yrs as a HC and going 15-10 isnt going to do it for ME. If he had the resume of his predecessor at Temple. Rhule took over a 4-7 team and finish last 2 years with back to back 10 win season in a four year stint. Before you know next season will be here and that is where the rubber meets the road. I know in today’s world if you not on the train then you are hater or anti_whatever the train is. It is easier to board the train at the next stop instead of jumping off the train when it derails. AGAIN I’M pulling for GT and HOPE that I’m wrong.

The idea that getting hyped because a new coach is putting on good interviews is setting us up for failure is the loser mentality we have to get rid of. There is nothing else to go by. We need to stop being afraid of hype, stop acting like we are better when nobody expects us to be, and actually have confidence as a program. Also all your fears are silly in light of the fact that there is nothing else to go by. The comparison to UGA is moronic because they developed that reputation because they bought the same thing year after year after year even when other things were pointing towards not warranting that. We don't even have a staff yet, haven't played a game, haven't conducted a practice with Collins. There is nothing else to go by except those conferences and interviews. How can you be worried about a guy being all talk before he ever has a chance to do anything but talk?

As far as the performance at Temple goes, Rhule left with a lot of his players. Here is a quote from a 2017 preview that explains that situation. "It’s hard to imagine Temple avoiding at least a couple of steps backwards in 2017, however. The Owls have to replace a first-round defensive end, a second-round offensive lineman, a multi-year starting quarterback, an explosive running back, and all three starting linebackers." There was likely going to be a step back regardless of coach because of who they were losing. As far as this year it really isn't that far away from year 4 under Rhule. 8-4 vs 9-3 with the main difference is that UCF this year is better than USF was in 2016, and Temple had to play UCF on the road this year and got USF at home in 2016. You say he didn't have the resume that Rhule had but leave out that Rhule went 2-10 in year 1. He too regressed from what his predecessor did in year 1. Yes, Rhule had great years 3 and 4. Something that Collins didn't have the opportunity to have.

Here's the facts.
Tech with PJ was an up-hill struggle with his offense.Few hi school team ran it and fewer guys (esp QBs) wanted to play in it.He was maybe brilliant game coach but he was fighting an uphill battle.
We needed a change. So EVERYTHING is changing. It may not be better but it will be different.
