Should New OC Faulkner work for uga in the CFP?

I talked with a former classmate who is heavily tied in with the uga football program. His son is one of the student assistants on the sidelines. Apparently Monken is, how shall we say this, not very good with his interpersonal skills. Enough so that Faulkner has been the go between not just for Bennett, but for others as well. Kirby is really worried that it might blow up in his face on the national stage without that tried and true intermediary in place.
this makes sense..

I'm skeptical of this being much of a benefit to us. He was on their team last year for the natty so that's not something new so the marginal benefit would be the fact that he's in the natty again this year (assuming they make it)... but he's just an analyst. I'm not sure how much press or attention that's going to get. I'd be a little surprised if it even comes up in the broadcast during the playoffs.

I don't really care if Key is sticking it to Kirby I just hope he's expressing to Faulkner how much work there is to do and how much his focus is needed on his new role
I believe it will get attention that an analyst hired to be OC by another team is still needed on the Ugag sideline, and they're going to talk about why that is important.

Faulkner is not going to be in the box for UGA lol. He’s out recruiting for us…he would need to be scouting, prepping for OSU, and in meetings with the UGA staff to be part of the game plan and be valuable in the box.

If it was Michigan or TCU or osu I’d still prefer he leave once we hired him. What good does it do us, or him, for him to wait to be here
He wouldn't really be waiting to be here. He's already been on the recruiting trail and will continue to do so. His time away from us would be minimal, confined mostly to the days Ugag is playing. He's not allowed by NCAA rules to be present at practice, anyway.

I have absolutely zero problem with Faulkner being in UGA’s coaching box during the playoffs as long as it doesn’t interfere with his GT duties. We really need to get over this UGA fixation and focus on being in the top half of the ACC at the moment. Until we do this, worrying about UGA is a waste of time.
Well, it is kind of weird. If you are hired by Coca-Cola, you cannot continue to work at PepsiCo. No organization would ever allow you to continue to work after being hired by a direct competitor. In fact, most organizations will escort you right out the door without allowing you to give two weeks notice if you are going to a competitor, but in this case Smart is asking him to stay longer.

If Key agreed to allow Faulkner to stay on through the bowl game, then that is the only reason I think this can being allowed from our perspective. However, if Faulkner agreed to start right away, then, No, he should not be allowed to consult for the bowl game. While there may be benefit if he can continue to gather intel to bring back to our team, the conflict of interests here are pretty glaring.

Faulkner is already in our employ. He would only continue to work for Ugag if Brent agreed to it, and Brent would only agree to it if there's something in it for Tech.

There could well be some money in it for the Jackets.

It's the age-old question - do we love Tech more than we hate the pups?
How much money? It’s have to be a significant portion of his contract IMO. I’d tell them they’re big boys and they’ll to figure it out.

Sounds great. Hopefully they lose without him.

I think it could enhance his recruiting status if he's an analyst for the national champion, which Ugag is odds on favorite to be. It could help us pull in offensive recruits. Right now, Tech and the pups aren't recruiting in the same spheres.
And I can imagine there could be $$ in it for Tech.
I'm going to trust Brent's judgement on this, to do whatever is in the best long-term interest of the Jackets. Buster would only be off the recruiting trail for a couple of days or so at most.
He has already been an analyst for the national champion, sitting in the box for a couple more games does not change or improve that. There is no benefit to Tech in this scenario whatsoever, and if Brent were to allow BF to do this I will be calling for his head immediately. You do not help the mutts EVER, especially not to winning a national championship.

Doing it now, while he's been hired as our OC would be of greater benefit recruiting-wise, and (just guessing) it might even enhance our opportunity to snag one or more of their transfers if he lingers.
Also, there's the money aspect.
So, if there's something in it for us, the question for me boils down to whether one loves Tech more than one hates the mutts.

He’s an analyst guys. There will not be a significant amount of media attention around this if he stays

Media attention won't be a major factor, but offensive recruits are going to know he was an offensive analyst for the national champs.
