It's the same **** 3 DC's later. At some point CPJ needs to suffer the consequences.
To be fair, we fired one DC after winning the ACC
O.K. Give me a 1000 yard receiver not names Thomas. How about a QB that passed for 3000 yards. How many wr's have had a 100 yard game? How many QB' have had a 300 yard game or even a game with over 250 yards passing.
Ah, so it’s not hyperbole, it’s wishful thinking. Only 12 QBs and 8 WRs in Power 5 football finished with the season stats you’re looking for.

I’m guessing your point is that we don’t have passing stats that match up with pass happy teams like Wazzu. Such an amazing point you’ve made lol. I agree that we have to be better passing, I’ve been saying that for weeks, but you’re trying to compare us to a Mike Leach team. Come on.

We had a good passing game in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2014. I think the case could be made that last year we could throw when we wanted to confidently.

Why do you think another DC under CPJ will be any different than the past 3?
If CPJ has the money to hire a respected one with a lot of promise, then he would probably be very different. Hopefully TStan is willing to spend money to get the best. Of course, we still have the problem of actually getting the money. It's time for Tech fans to pony up so we can get what we need and want.

When/if Roof goes, I'll be curious to see what kind of resumes GT receives for his replacement. Not everyone is going to jump at the chance to rep against option personnel. Scout team or whatever.

You don't think Groh was respected? Look, I love CPJ, but it's alway the same story on D. If he couldn't get who he wanted as DC, he should have done more himself . Maybe he did do more himself to coach the D. I don't know and neither does anyone else. At the end of the day he is head coach and is responsible.

If he really wants a NC maybe he should disburse some of his salary to get the DC he wants. Surely at his age he has plenty of money and it would be a hell of a vote of confidence in his vision.

What did he say? And were names actually used? J/W to what extent.

No names of course. I did not mean to sound that critical.

WTTE “ our WR / QB / RB didn’t do this or did do that.” Excep talking about specific plays.

In days past that would have been considered throwing someone under the bus. If others disagree that is fine.

A Dodd, Bryant, or Wilkinson would have said WTTE “I / we did not do a good enough job of getting the WR to understand what he actually needed to do on that play”.

No longer matters.

Ah, great question. I'm not in favor of a new head coach. I'm just tired of all the "fire Roof" crowd. If it's a forgone conclusion by the powers that be (not GT Swarm) that we must replace the DC, then I say "No. We've been through many with the same result." Maybe it is the head coach. Once again, I'm not in favor of this move, but to those who keep insisting it's the DC, I think we will get the same result. Maybe it's the players. The good thing about that is we get 25% new players each year. My guess is focus on that. Improve the players you bring in. We average 40-50th best recruiting class year after year and same result. That's the one thing we haven't changed over the years. Change that and lets see what happens.

They don't play option personnel during the season. They play the scout team like every team in the country. I'm kinda confused by your comment of saying scout team or whatever. Could you elaborate?

Which brings up what he said on the call in show Monday, he can't coach everybody. Nor can any HC at any school.

Quit trying to point facts at this clown. You have some guys that are going to defend Johnson til the end. I gave up years ago and two accounts later. There are some major issues with in program right now. Talent issues at every position ! Year ten and we somehow have 6 QBs on a scholarship. Have you ever heard of such BS at a D1 school?

I'm sure he wants to hire someone like the DC from Clemson but tech want fork up 3 million to hire him. Let's be serious about the problem at tech . There is some big issues at the hill.
As nice as it would be to have Venables, that's unreasonable, but there's nothing keeping us from finding a man who has the same defensive philosophy as Venables. Roof's "bend but don't break" philosophy doesn't work, and his constant use of the prevent defense at the end of halves does nothing but prevent us from winning. As far as the Hill, they have no say so over athletics, other than providing fields of study that athletes can do well in, and even that is out of the Hill's hands, because the Ga BOR controls that, even apparently to the extent of requiring all Tech students to take calculus.

Agree the hill is a huge issue. That's why I don't put much blame on CPJ, especially when he has his unit overpreform for the most part.
