QB battle

Players are watching these tv interviews and they read what coaches say about them online. Don't think for a minute that CPJ isn't using this as motivation to get players to work even harder for their spots on the depth chart. GT hasn't had this much depth at QB and B-Back since Johnson hit the Flats.

I'm expecting huge yardage from the B-back spot this season and this offense is very hard to stop when you're getting consistent yards up the gut!
Maybe he's using it as motivation, but to a very small extent imo. As he said in the interview, the kids ain't stupid. They know who's going to play and who's not. If there is a 1a and 1b they know who they are because they are getting the most reps with the 1's I would assume. And if that's the case I hope wanting the starting job is motivation enough. JMO.

I think JJ has unique athleticism like Jackson for Louisville and that CPJ would go with him now if he felt he was less prone to turnovers and had more experience. My guess is that CPJ will try to get him into games as a backup so that he can evaluate if he is ready for prime time. Next year I would bet he starts but Taquon seems to be the front runner this year with MJ's injuries.

whats pauls' alternative. To come out and say MJ is struggling reading pitch keys, is not confident in the pitch, and its hurting us?

Look, all of his comments are in jest. He is not going to reveal MJ is struggling passing or pitching the ball. He just won't. The data behind people posting his struggles actually comes from limited observations in practice (and I will be first to admit...its limited)

Does it mean he is rusty? Maybe
Could it mean he lost some confidence. Possibly
Could he correct it in the next two weeks...sure

but it doesn't change the fact that early in fall practice, its been an observation....its a snapshot in time. And the coach isn't going to publicly undress any of his guys.

BTW at the end of the Vad Lees first year...these same people in practice were saying JeT is the real deal and needs to play. They were right. So I am just saying, that the point of this is lets see for sure...but heck its what message boards are about...to speculate and have fun with it.

Otherwise...everyone's post would just be, it is what it is. And thats not fun

CPJ has said its MJ's to lose...has that changed? I haven't heard.
CPJ said he was not happy with QB play when MJ was out, so you guys assume everything.

MJ starts and plays the whole season. You have to put your experienced players in the game.
TM is a heck of an athlete and needs to be on the field, just not at QB. You guys question MJ's passing, TM is worse IMO.

MJ: the QB I think we need to figure it out and lead us if we're going to have a 10-win season.
TM: the QB who seems to be improving the fastest, and could have the most JeT-like game.
JJ: the QB that gets me feeling all giddy about a Vick-type player in that role. I could foresee massive highs and massive lows this season, but a legit title shot soon.
LJ: the QB that secretly intrigues me, the way we were all intrigued by what we thought VL could turn into.

QB1: the one I will be rooting for regardless.

If MJ wins the job, will he even last the whole season? Against VT he kept it 32 times. No QB can stay healthy keeping it 30 times a game. He has to be more willing to pitch, or we WILL see any of TM, LJ, or JJ.
