He's out of eligibility so good for him hope he goes in at least the 5th
He was talking about the possibility of exploring the opportunity for another medical year. Looks like he decided not to apply for a waiver or found out he wouldn't get one. Makes sense after his previous comments that he would make an affirmative statement about entering the NFL Draft.

I love this kid. His personality, the way he comports himself, just reads winner. He will be successful in whatever he chooses to do. Chase might have a chance to make a roster, but it's not going to be through the Draft unless his workouts are through the roof. He might have been the #3 receiver on this year's roster. He had 23 receiptions (Singleton 56, Rutherford 62), which was less than Boyd (25) and just ahead of Stockton (17).

I see him going pro as a media personality. I can even see him as a studio guy with a team of high level athletes around him. He has that charisma and ability to develop a rapport with others that works well on-screen.

I don’t understand RS Freshmen entering the portal.
I think that many kids come in with a lot of expectations and then real life slaps them upside the head. They find that Gt was neither as easy nor as glorious as they expected.

Then they have to choose to adapt or search for greener pastures.

I also think that after the season there's some soul-searching going on. I think there are some candid conversations in the lead-up to the bowl games. With the number of DBs we had go down throughout the year, that if a RS Freshman doesn't see the field and then we go out and bring in Portal DBs (essentially recruiting over them), that it doesn't bode well for some of these guys that came in to compete. There can also be the recognition that Tech isn't the right environment for them (either socially or academically). I agree there are a lot of different things that could encourage a kid to move on early.

I find it interesting that we've lost a lot of young OL and DBs to the Portal. I assume the coaching staff knows why this is happening.

Just like "real" students do too, only most of them don't have tutors or preferential schedules.

Yeah, but most of the "real" students don't have a full-time 40+ hour/week job that is physically exhausting and beats up your body. I don't begrudge these kids the tutors and preferential schedules they get.

I admire what these athletes are able to with time required for practice and travel. It's amazing how well they are able to do. Regular students often have part time jobs and I did do two quarters while working a 40 hour work week and it almost killed me. I was not trying to put down our athletes but just that regular students get that slap as well. They also either adjust or move on. At least that's the way it was when I was a student, but then only about 60% that started actually finished.

Didn't the portal close on the 28th. How are we still losing players to the portal?
Players on Bowl teams got 5 days after the Bowl Game to submit their name to the GT compliance office who then must enter the player into the Portal within 48 hours. So basically 7 days before we hear us not out of the question.

Was he? That's a genuine question. I don't have any insight on it.
I mean maybe. Maybe not? I dunno. He played special teams and was behind every DE we have departing. Maybe he doesn’t see an avenue since he’s behind Boyd and Bradford, and now that Manley, Garrett, and Triplette are coming in, he might feel cooked. Room still feels thin. Probably had as good a chance to crack the deep as anywhere unless he transfers down a tier which he probably will. Still a lotta unknowns on the DL for any player at that position to transfer, unless they’re forced out. And I don’t think we’re in any shape to be forcing out DL guys. Just my opinion.

I think he's a tweener. One of my favorite young guys that wasn't getting time. Outgrew LB but not quite big enough for Edge? That's what I heard.

This. I didn't play football and when I realized what a grind it would be after my first quarter to receive a GT degree, I did some soul searching and decided it would be worth the effort and stayed. If I had to play football and had to also invest the time football it would take as well, I would probably left. I completely understand a kid leaving after one term. Any kid who plays Georgia Tech FB 3-4 years and earns a GT degree is a very special kid in my eyes.
