Well remember our offense only scored 7 points in regulation against Miami.

And technically still our entire schedule of 12 opponents could all get bowl games this year. The Citadel won their 7th game yesterday. South Florida has since beat UConn, BYU, and East Carolina. We really don’t have any place on our schedule this year or next year to hide.
I think GT beats a horrible injury gutted NCSU team for their last win of 2019.

I'm not the biggest fan of coach P but it takes time. Look at Scott frost first year at Nebraska. What was he 2-10? Bronco at UVA inherited a team that recruited top 30 and also went 2-10 his first year
Yeah...I get those examples...but the QB rotation within drives, earlier in the season, running shotgun on 4th n short, calling 5 step QB drops with a swiss cheese line is NUTS. I just don't see anything that tells me PatenFraude knows what he is doing.

I like Lucas throwing but I hate him running. He goes down way too easily and has zero vision. We should have broken the huddle with TO on that play and snapped before Pitt had a clue who was back there. He was already on the field, it would have been an easy switch. Even his naysayers recognize his ability as a wildcat qb.

As if mysteriously switching to QB is not scouted look. You are not fooling anyone putting TO at QB, hell you are limiting yourself.

I’m still trying to understand where TO at QB is a sure thing at goalline as you keep proposing bc the results are not quite there

Not saying it isn't nuts, but I noticed Florida calling shotgun on 4th and one yesterday. It's not uncommon (even if it's nuts).

That was a really disappointing game yesterday i thought that GT was starting to turn the corner. I guess 2-3 wins will be all this team is currently capable of.

Why are you disappointed? Have you not been watching all season. GT won’t turn the corner until we get legit P5 players on the offensive and defensive lines. We have a few but not enough to consistently win. You will be disappointed a lot if you are looking for wins right now.

I thought if GT played as hard as they did against Miami that they would have a chance to beat Pitt.

I keep hearing that P'nut wants a taller QB. I have no idea if that is true, Graham is listed at 6'1" Yates is listed at 6'0 not much difference. But was not Gleason the QB that CGC wanted listed at 6"1" or 6'2" ?

Gleason is 6'3" 220. Not sure that is the end all, be all that some have claimed, though.

Gleason is 6’2”. He’s got decent mechanics but he’s not Peyton Manning. I would not be surprised to see him start in 2022. If people think he’ll be ready for prime time as a true Freshman they need to pass the pipe this way.

Expect the same - which is different than what we have seen in 11 years.

That is a team - coaches, players, support staff- that will not quit.

A program that knows you have to actually recruit QBs, enough P5 level talent OL & DL. Not just those players that were easy to recruit because you choose to sit in your LaZBoy and recruit against tulane, gsu and Elon.

A team that knows without D you will go nowhere - except win rushing titles and nothing else of significance nationally.

And, as said, expect a group representing GT that will not quit.

This coaching staff will never sniff 11 wins.

I agree with those who point to our OL and DL as the main issue. That has been a problem , almost without exception since CPJ was here. We had a couple of years that we got better OL play because of few injuries, defections, etc., but those were the exceptions. Our depth has ALWAYS been an issue. On the DL, we had few /no "war daddies", and true pass rushing specialists. We cannot expect those issues to resolve themselves in one year. It will get better in year 2 and beyond, IMO.

I don't know. We were inches from tying the game late in the 3rd quarter against a bowl-bound conference opponent. Pitt may well win the division. To me that feels like really good progress from losing to Citadel and 24-2 against friggin' Temple. Losing always sucks, but we were fated to lose a lot this year.

We're already close to being competitive in the coastal - LJ doesn't fumble and we're tied going into the 4th quarter. Outside observers thought it would take years of rebuild to get there. We might be pretty decent next year. Decent enough to compete in the Coastal at least.

What I saw yesterday was a team that took several steps back after the Miami game.

The offense was unimaginative and innefficient. Play calling was s bad. O line was bad. QB play was bad. If Mason got more than two steps in before he got hit he got good yardage, but most plays he had three defenders on him when the ball was put in his hands. Graham had a very bad game, which was to be expected at some point this season being that he's a freshman, but throwing balls way over the receivers heads when they are less than 10 yards down field. Lucas passed well, but he is just not a threat with his legs anymore - couldn't outrun any Pitt defenders, and on the goalline fumble, he looked like a newborn deer trying to cut back to the hole. Outside of Mason and A. Brown, the rest of the offense played very poorly.

Defense seems to struggle mightily in the first half. Constantly caught out of position and unready for the snap, I was going nuts at how often Pitt was ready to snap the ball and the D was standing around looking at the sideline waiting for a call. The turnovers we generated were great, but being out of position contributed to a lot of easy yards and points for Pitt.

Special teams was pretty crap again, outside of Harvin and the blocked punt.

Finally this blindside block rule is the biggest bunch of horsecrap ever added to the game. How we got called for it multiple times on kickoffs, less than 10 yards down field is mindboggling. I need to watch the replays and understand what exactly they are calling it for, but I saw several times on special teams where Pitt "blindside blocked" our guys with no calls. Besides, what happened to keeping your head on a swivel? Players aren't responsible for their lack of awareness anymore?

Defense is finally coming around. We just mainly need to fix our ineffectual offense.
