You are correct, but I think he could still raise hell about it, letting them know that we have had more noonish starts in the past 5 or 6 years than any other ACC team. He can ask why that is the case.

But the networks do not operate to be fair to the schools or athletic departments. I don't think they make decisions based on equal opportunity for all of the schools. They look purely at what will make the most money. If GT complains, maybe the management will take a look. However, if they see that they will make .001% more by having GT play at 12:00 and another school at 3:30 or 7:00, they will go with maximizing money. The GT-Miami game in 2014 was at night because there was a lot of hype around GT and Miami. The GT-FSU game was at night becuase FSU was highly ranked. The networks will put GT games in the spotlight when they think they can get more of a national audience than the other games. Obviously they don't think GT-Pitt or GT-UNC will get a lot of national attention.

They paid a lot of money to the ACC to fill a lot of time slots. They are going to maximize revenue from those time slots instead of equalizing to the schools. How often do you see Vandy in the 3:30 CBS game?

I can't figure out why Alabama-Vandy is the game of the week on CBS! Alabama will probably beat them 35-14 or worse and Vandy will go 5-7 or 6-6 at best and maybe get to go to the Independence Bowl or Birmingham Bowl.

This.... The networks are going to showcase the teams that are winning and have large fan bases. GT doesn't exactly have the fan base of a UF, Ugag, FSU, Miami and such. Truth.. Second, if we had beaten UT, then we may have a valid gripe. Until we get some wins under our belts. To the networks, we are just a one win team, whose only win was against a FCS opponent. Let the boys make some noise by putting some W's on the board and we'll get those 3:30 starts.

Then how do you explain how Vandy gets several night games every year? How does wake forest get 330 games consistently? To me our AD needs to actually stand up for the fans.

There are stipulations in the CBS contract about how each team in the SEC has to be featured at least once in a given time span, and how a team can't get more than so many featured games in a given time span etc. The SEC front office is very well run and the CBS contract gives everyone a spot at a featured game. The ACC front office is run by clowns and the small fish like Tech take the brunt of the short changing.

I don't like noon kickoffs for many reasons. The crowd lacks energy and arrives late, less time for tailgating, and I do not like getting up early on the weekend.

3:30 is the sweet spot, and for whatever reason that is the time we get the least for home games.
Back in the day, (when Dodd was coaching) our kickoffs were at 2:00 to accommodate the numerous out of town fans Tech had in those days. TV be damned we played at 2:00 pm and if you wanted us on TV then you best make sure the cameras were ready at 2. But times change so now we have to accommodate the conference, the networks and everyone else except the fans who come to the game. They are irrelevant, of course.

I'm actually fine with noon kickoffs. I might be in the minority, but with two kiddos in tow, I prefer not to be in a stadium when they wild out from being tired.

Been there, done that. my sympathies I hope they enjoy the game. I was 8 years old in 1962 when Mom and Dad started taking me. My mother almost got into a fight with a drunk Alabama fan at Grant Field who insisted on spilling his drink on her dress. Fortunately, the police intervened before my cousin punched his lights out. Being 8 years old it made quite an impression on me almost as big as watching Don Toner grab that interception to end the game right in front of us.

Yep. Sad to say that we were treated better by the SEC years ago than we are by the ACC tobacco road mafia. It's not so bad that they are so biased towards UNC in particular but the incompetence makes it worse. A clown show to be sure.

Tech's home games were at 1:30. Only like one game in the whole nation was televised, so changing for TV was rare--maybe the Georgie game was on TV at night on Thanksgiving weekend.

I had chem lab from 9-12 on Saturday, calculus from 12-1. I had a half hour to get my Lyman Hall sulphur smelling clothes changed and get to the game.

Calculus before a football game? In the South? Christ, it is a wonder you could stand it..

Lol. I had a similar experience at uga about 12ish years ago. Mutt fan threw ice at me at first then his drink came. I was in the student section with some friends from college. The guy was forced out by other mutt fans. The only time I remember being able to stand those people. Other than the one I married of course.

Both my kids actually are really excited to go to the games. Then we get there and they are ready to go home. It's all worth it when we win though.

Crap...I live in ACC territory but don't get the channel that's showing it, so I think my WatchESPN will be blacked out. Is this game available for streaming through the ACC network website? I really don't want to have to listen to the radio broadcast unless I absolutely have to.
OK I might have figured out a very simple workaround...IPVanish VPN apparently has an app for Fire TV, so I should be able to get around the blackout, at $10 for one month or $27 for the whole 3 month season. Thanks, internet!

Since the game against Pitt is on ACCN, does anyone have SlingTV and access ACCN through that? Thanks!

It's the ACC game of the week, so you should be able to find it on a local channel. Otherwise, yes, if it's not blacked out in your area, then you should be able to get it with Sling (I have Sling plus Sports Extra for $25/mo).

Last weekend though, I wasn't able to get the ACC extra on the ESPN App, even though I still got it on Sling. For some reason, Sling was sending ESPN a signal that said I hadn't subscribed. The ESPN app is better than the Sling App for me because I just use my phone and the ESPN app will mirror to my TV but the Sling App won't.
