You are correct, but I think he could still raise hell about it, letting them know that we have had more noonish starts in the past 5 or 6 years than any other ACC team. He can ask why that is the case.
But the networks do not operate to be fair to the schools or athletic departments. I don't think they make decisions based on equal opportunity for all of the schools. They look purely at what will make the most money. If GT complains, maybe the management will take a look. However, if they see that they will make .001% more by having GT play at 12:00 and another school at 3:30 or 7:00, they will go with maximizing money. The GT-Miami game in 2014 was at night because there was a lot of hype around GT and Miami. The GT-FSU game was at night becuase FSU was highly ranked. The networks will put GT games in the spotlight when they think they can get more of a national audience than the other games. Obviously they don't think GT-Pitt or GT-UNC will get a lot of national attention.
They paid a lot of money to the ACC to fill a lot of time slots. They are going to maximize revenue from those time slots instead of equalizing to the schools. How often do you see Vandy in the 3:30 CBS game?
