Romello Height is tied with Singleton and Jamal Haynes as our highest rated player in the new CFB game. If that’s anywhere near accurate that’s a great sign for our defense!

I've been listening to Louisville media. It sounds like their defense will be stellar, but I get the feeling there are huge questions with the offense. The Cards remind me of FSU. They are heavily reliant on the transfer portal, but even more so the the Seminoles. Also, everyone just assumes Coach Brohm will have them contending just like the Noles feel with Coach Norvell. This is definitely a road game we need to win. I think it will be a "W" for the Jackets and it won't be that close.

For the members of this board who enjoy listening to podcasts discussing GT's upcoming season, I recommend the July 15 ACC All Sports Discussion featuring a 45 minute interview with AJC Beat writer Chad Bishop. If you have never listened to this weekly podcast, it is quite entertaining and each week features a hometown analyst discussing their team and their upcoming schedule. Bishop, a Ga Southern graduate , grew up in Atlanta. He was objective considering our schedule, but cautiously optimistic in his outlook. He scores high points with me stating that UGA is the most critical game on the schedule. I would have said FSU taking out the emotions , but I like the way Bishop thinks.

Speaking of off-season media (or medium in this case), the long-awaited EA Sports College Football 25 game drops at midnight tonight. My son tells me that each player who is named in the video game receives $600 and a free game from EA. Unknown what the schools' copyrighted material/logos gets. This is the first NCAA football game release since 2013 when a lawsuit was filed for using college players likeness. Then the NIL court decision of 2021 enabled EA to pay the players and they then began development of this game. All 134 FBS schools are featured in the initial release, including Georgia Tech. FCS schools, such as Georgia Southern, are promised to be included in releases of later edition.

My short term memory loss made my brain behind the times. I like Georgia Southern. Having two advanced degrees from Georgia Southern College and coaching basketball there in the late 1970's as we were planning to bring back football under Coach Irk Russell, I tend to remember how good they were in winning six FCS (I-AA) national championships. I do know that they moved up to FBS in 2014. Thank you for reminding me.

I think back in the day, Ga Southern was one of the few 1-AA teams on the game. I remember them and maybe Hofstra. And of course they has teams labeled as “1-AA Southeast” or something like that.

F$U is still obsessing over the 'snub' from last year. I feel like that is to our benefit in game 1. A lot of negativity and distraction around their program. On paper, they have more talent. But I feel like there's a really good chance we'll be the more focused and prepared team.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. Mr. "Locked on FSU Football Podcast " was whining about the Commissioner's comments. Literally, the FSU guy reminded me of a child getting called out at school for bad behavior. Of course, FSU also got called out by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey at their media days. Many non FSU media analysts felt like it was about time Commissioner Phillips publicly fought for the ACC. Coach Norvell, to his credit is trying to keep his team focused. However, distractions like this get heard by the players. Also, I think it is noteworthy that the first question that gets asked to Coach Norvell and the players is how DJ is fitting into their offense and locker room. Coach Norvell was very complimentary with his praise for DJ, but also interestingly added in one interview I heard ,".. It hasn't always been great." There is a condensed video that I saw which showed every pass he threw in their Spring game. While DJ did make some incredible throws, many were outright bad. By contrast, I thought Coach Key and our players presented themselves with confidence , focus and a little humor. The players absolutely believe they will beat FSU- you can see it in their eyes!
