It’s got to be more to that story cause Frost went there and flipped the switch.
2 years later though, all the young guys playing for Key were Juniors and seniors when Frost took over, and Key had a lot of young guys playing from my understanding. There are many teams that have looked bad and turned it around in 1 or 2 years, that’s just part of football. Honestly 2 years in football is a long time.

I've already answered the question. You didn't accept it...that's your perogative.

Still waiting on why you would even bring up Key's name in the first place. Again, what has his offenses done that he deserves to be an OC at a P5 program like GT? The fact that you can't tell us and you're deflecting tells us all we need to know.
You went and showed what he does bad as an OC? You broke down the film? Showed examples? I must have missed that. Your answer wasn’t really an answer to the question, you gave not one example. I also have an answer for your question, but if you can answer mine why would I yours?

No, someone showed his results...and the fact that UCF paid him 700K to NOT be their coach anymore tells me all I need to know.

Again, please let GT fans know what qualifies Key for GT's OC position. If you're not going to answer the question, this will be the last time I discuss this with you.

The difference between Key and Tee Martin is TM has a history of running a successful offenses. His offense in 2017 was #20 in FEI, and #22 in 2016. This season it dipped to 87, but there's a history to his success. You can say Martin had really good talent to work with, but MANY teams have a lot of talent to work with and still suck. Just look at LSU every season or Texas or Texas A&M.
I think you bring up many good points. I disagree that Martin should get a pass for taking a team averaging 8th in recruiting and not being able to crack the top 20 in OFEI, but his resume is WAY better than anything Key has.

Absolutely boggles my mind that anyone would even consider Key as our OC. I'm sure he's a good guy and a good OL coach...Saban did hire him for a reason. But there's also a reason he's not even in the conversation to be 'Bama's OC or any other P5 program's OC.

Well Saban seems to like him. Maybe some Saban grooming can help iron out the competencies.

Saban also promoted a different coach from within to be their new OC.

I agree that Key could be on staff and be groomed to eventually become an OC, but I do not think GT should be the type of program hiring coaches with zero proven success at a position.

Oh, he's not getting a pass....he got fired for it.

Like I said, if someone can brake down what he does wrong as an OC then I’ll listen. All that other stuff to me is hear say, with no proof. But that’s jmo. Also to use the fact that no other teams have gone after him as an OC makes it seem like it’s been forever since he’s been on OC, it’s only been 3 seasons. Also, who knows? Maybe he has been offered, but it wasn’t a good enough deal to leave Bama.

How is he any better than any other possible OC candidate? GT letterman ain’t enough. If it were Joe Ham would be our HC.

Idk if you think I’m calling for Key to be the Oc, but I’ll say it again, that’s not what I’m saying. I don’t think he would be a bad option, but I also think there are others he could be a better choice for now.

You still haven’t answered the question though. Give me reasons why he didn’t succeed as a play caller, stats don’t tell me the “why”. So please, if you are going to ask me a question, than answer mine. You are running around the question. At the end of the day though, this is just your opinion against mine, neither if a fact. I’ll also add the fact that he’s on Sabans staff lets me know he’s a good offensive mind and understands the game and what defenses are doing, and that’s the first part to your question. The other reason I wouldn’t mind is because of his scheme, it plays well in the favor of GT. Read option game, quick slants, with occasional shots down field, spreads the field well. “window dressing” which will help GT when going against better talent. Stuff like pulling the center and guard to look like a run right so he could clear the middle out and hit a guy on a slant with open field in front of him.

Go watch how how many young guys were on the field and how many dropped balls and mistakes by young guys were made. That’s the reason I asked you to brake down what he does wrong, I’m sorry but football goes WAY beyond the stats.

Maybe you should break those things down first and help show the results as proof he did a good job. Enjoy.

What? Y’all are the one coming at me about my opinion with y’all opinion (not facts) I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work that way. Generally if you are going to bash my opinion you need to back yours up first.

And what would you like me to brake down?

Said this same thing many times on here. One stop does not define the ability of a coach. Especially with a death in the program, injuries, freshman QB starting, losing guys to the nfl or other reasons. Plus whatever else was going on behind the scene.

Maybe we should also offer the OC job to Bama’s WR coach, RB coach, and TE coach if coaching under Saban is some kind of magic elixir.

You are kidding right? I never once said he’s better, I’ve actually said there are better options probably lol. You aren’t even reading what I’m saying.
