While emotionally I like that idea....what schools (or conference) will be the first to do that....and miss March Madness and every other "sanctioned" Championship as a result? Hint: NOT the ACC....

Nothing is preventing the conferences from coming together to organize these things between themselves. They don’t need the ncaa to sanction anything. They can set a tournament up themselves and set a playoff up themselves.

The fact that they are sticking to actual rules is the very measure of consistency. Still looking for a statistic, but I am a member of several sports groups and the common complaint from fans of all teams is that their transfers aren't getting immediate play waivers.

We can argue that the rules are arbitrary (105 miles vs 100 miles) and I'd agree with you. I am just pointing out that GT is not in a unique position.

How many miles from Knoxville is Leesburg Georgia? What exigent circumstance applied to him to grant him an exemption where others have received none. It’s not consistent at all unless you know something about Solomon that I don’t.

Fixed above for ya

WVU over under 5 games
money went HARD to the under in a nearly 30% disproportionate rate
QB wants to transfer to help WVU, and maybe the over. APPROVED.

GT over under 4 games
Money went to the over initially
kids transfer to help. REJECTED
Money went back to the under
Will be interesting to see now that money went back to the under; if they get approved

its. all. fixed.
ESPN picked West Virginia to go 3-9 this season:cool:

FWIW, Solomon's initial waiver was denied about a week before our guys, so his appeal was filed about a week before ours. IF our guys get waiver approvals, I can 100% see NCAA doing it next week sometime. SMH.
Thanks, I was wondering about this. Hope more see your post before deciding on more conspiracy theories.

Also from the Solomon article
The initial appeal for immediate eligibility was filed sometime in the spring. Sources told Volquest earlier this month that Tennessee had not submitted the waiver until April and then the NCAA had come back and requested more information, which in part of what created a delay in the ruling.

Fwiw, the idea of waiver approvals coming next week would be something worth celebrating. I would sign up for that right now and be ecstatic.

You left out the most important part...the complaints from fans of all teams that aren't big name programs is that their transfers aren't getting immediate play waivers. The big boys and high profile players are getting approved without much question. Treating the elites with a different set of rules than the plebs, while it may be done consistently, is entirely inequitable and shows the arbitrary nature of these decisions.

VT just had a player denied his appeal as well. His house was 105 miles away from campus and his mothers cancer was in 2017 and she is recovering now. It's not just a GT thing to have players denied.

The ONLY and I mean ONLY reason I can see this one getting denied (and I still believe he should've gotten the waiver), is that there are MULTIPLE division 1 P5 schools within that 100 mile radius of his home. He could've transferred elsewhere and possibly would've received it on the first try if he were inside that 100 mile radius and not had to go through the appeal process. I don't agree with it but that's all I could come up with.

For Clayton's situation, being that there are no P5 schools within that 100 mile radius, IMO, that has to be looked at. I know there are a couple others (Auburn, FSU) that may be a couple miles closer than GT, but I also thought about this. If his is based on a sick family member, that person could very likely have routine trips or stays in the hospital for treatment/care. From Vienna, that is likely in Macon, or possibly Atlanta, making GT the closest school to where he can be with family. Fingers are crossed.

Part of this distance confusion is the type of waiver requested. For hardship, it doesn't matter where you transfer to so long as there was something significantly aversive beyond your control where you're coming from. I think that's the most subjective and controversial in decisions being made.

Of course. ****ing ridiculous. This was supposed to be an advantage to Tech with the transfer portal and immediate eligibility for moving closer to home.

Now somehow the ncaa has turned it into a disadvantage. Somehow. Some ****ing how.

If you're looking to find a conspiracy, you're not going to be disappointed. There are exceptions at GaSo that were granted. Definitely NOT a big name school. There are also athletes at big name schools who were denied waivers.

But go ahead, don the tinfoil hats. Just try to make them Old Gold tinfoil...

Civil disobedience has a long and hallowed history in this country. I wonder if any aggrieved school ever disobeyed a waiver denial and played a player anyway. For example, what if Tech ignored the NCAA’s ruling and played Clayton in the Tech-Clemson game after the game was already decided? Suppose that Clemson was up 49 to 7 to start the 4th quarter and Clayton entered the game. If the sanctions were limited only to a “forfeit” of any game in which an ineligible player plays, so what? It would provide an exceptional platform to give national exposure to the arbitrary actions of the NCAA. It’s a nice day to daydream...
