Normally I'd agree with you in that this would be swept under the rug. But the AJC is actually doing a good job in uncovering the details, now it might have gotten bigger than they wanted it to but they are in too deep that they are forced to keep going. The farther the go the more they will uncover. Never forget the AJC is not owned locally so what is their allegiance to Athens? (Is it even in their daily delivery area?)I'm afraid this will all go away in a haze of 'boys will be boys' and 'who cares, we just wonitall'.
Weak point is still the deceased young lady's family and the degree to which they want to be paid to allow her reputation to be besmirched.
Hope they don't live in the Athens area or this 'family friend' may start paying them visits, unannounced.
And with the NCAA now allowing simple accusations to start an investigation, who knows how this will end. Not wishing for the program to suffer out of spite, but as a person who enjoys reading, but the onion is being peeled back layer by layer and I like that type of story.
