Vanderbilt, probably the most well rounded of UKs freshman was hurt a lot, oh and they are all frshmen. So you have to expect some growing pains.

UNC is a two seed in the tournament with 10 losses so I’d say the season was a success

I also understand that they are a rival and we are expected to beat on them a little bit but some of the hate should at least make a little sense.

Yes I admit that I am trolling them. But honest to Pete, if I had 9 guys who were 5 stars on my team and I played in the SEC, I would be embarrassed to go 10-8.

Now having said that, and to drive home my point about trolling, I have Kentucky winning it all. :cigar:

I saw a tweet that said if Tom Crean were hired at UGA, that the AAU coaches would basically freeze him out with their players.

Didn't know Crean was dispised by coaches...in GA...

Maybe its that he's just weird and creepy:
(Backstory if you don't know it - he kisses his grown children (here his son) on the lips. To each his own, but that and his personality disorder mannerisms and center parted hair I find unsettling.)

The subtitle on that first one is "That player is hawt, I think it moved."

The second one needs no subtitle. That's the personality disorder socially awkward Chester-The-Molester pose.

Article on Crean and UGA. Source tells CBSSports Crean is likely to accept an offer from UGA.

Also mentions search firm used reached out to both Chris Mack and Shaka Smart for UGA and they declined interest.

A positive I could see of UGA hiring a more established/older coach is those type of coaches typically have a good network of potential assistants they'd want to bring with them (just speculation on my part). Hopefully that would mean no Jonas Hayes being retained as part of his staff.

Of course the irony of the dwags hiring the coach that we helped fire would be hilarious.

His money is definitely in their ballpark - he was making $3.2M a couple years ago.

One thing he and Thad Matta both have in common - they are both unemployed and out of work for a long period of time. Looks like the dwags are trying to find a recognizable name without having to pay for it.

I think that tweet was about Thad Matta, not Tom Crean, but wouldn't mind it being true.

Here's a little local color ...
https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/what-is-georgia-getting-in-tom-crean-

I'm surprised McDonald didn't edit this bit out ...
Norcross head coach Jesse McMillan: “Whatever direction UGA goes with the new coach, my biggest concern would be the hiring of someone with little to no connections to our state. I believe all Georgia prep coaches want our in-state colleges and universities to be successful. Unfortunately, this cannot happen without genuine connections ...

....The previous UGA staff was really starting to create those relationships as seen with the recent commitments from top Georgia players, but it took almost a decade to do so. I’m afraid that history will repeat itself without a well-thought out hire. Keeping Jonas Hayes would help. That would definitely bring some continuity."

A buddy of mine was in Marquette athletic dept when Crean was there (and Buzz). He always said Buzz was odd, but in a charming / endearing way. He was not as complimentary of Crean. Essentially, he described his as a sociopath with horrific interpersonal skills. Knows basketball X&O but no ability to connect with other people

Hopefully UGAG will return to the level they were when John Guthrie coached them from 1973-1974 until 1977-1978:cool:

Word is the contract is $3.2MM yr for 6 yrs. Basically what they offered Matta with one additional year.

Hopefully Crean is not smart enough to keep Hayes on staff or this could work out very well for them, at least in the short term.
