You want stats? In both of the WI games, the team that scored the most points from the field lost the game.

UK was called for almost 50% more fouls than WI, even though both teams play physical basketball. WI plays offense like it's rugby--put the ball under one arm and clear out with other while driving to the basket. UK players challenged the offensive player, rather than flopping, and got called for fouls. 22 free throws for WI to 10 for UK was the difference.

I predicted a Duke win against WI because Coach K (like Rick Pitino) is a master of changing his game plan based upon officiating. I thought that Duke would just flop when WI played rugby.

Instead, in the second half, Duke played the same agressive style of offense driving to the basket, and WI was called for fouls when they challenged.

What is amazing is that Bo Ryan whined after the game that if the offensive player initiates contact, it's not supposed to be a foul. If the refs in the UK game had called it that way, WI would have lost to UK. Can't have it Both ways, Bo.
