And every single one of those players now has the chance to turn pro and get paid, if they're good enough. Their payment is their education and their exposure. Not saying it's right for the NCAA, schools or coaches to make stupid money, but that doesn't mean the students should be paid for playing at the collegiate level. They have alternative choices where they can be paid for their services.

As much as I detest UNC you can't really say that anymore.

I agree. There were certainly problems in the AFAM Dept and maybe in others to a much lesser degree. But, a UNC diploma is still a valuable document.

Until they are actually punished they are fair game along with the NCAA

Hard to argue a UNC degree was stained by the AFAM / athletes scandal. In fact the AFAM department itself is still listed as one of the top 5 AFAM programs in the country.
