Factoid: Key is not going to tell VT that King is not playing or is playing. This is just plain coach speak.

It just depends on the extent of their injuries. I think we have a tough coach and a buncha tough dudes…if they could go, I think they would. King, Efford, all of em would play tomorrow if you’d let em….and Brent would send em in if the trainer said yes.

I think what I’m trying to say/answer is…we need to win NOW, none of this rest em for the last three games. If they could go, or were a close to go, I think they would. I think a lotta folks are penciling the NCST game as a guaranteed W. I don’t see that.

I agree 100% but also know that athletes don't always make the best choices, either for themselves or their teammates. I think of the UNC CB who got dinged up on the next to last play. He was unable to offer run support on the last play that could have made a big difference in that game. He was visibly hobbling on that play.

See SI article on match up. Based on the quote below, I hope we can "Run the BALL!

"Another pivotal matchup is going to be Georgia Tech's offensive vs the Virginia Tech pass rush. Hokies defensive end Antwaun Powell-Ryland is the nation's leader in sacks with 11 sacks and Georgia Tech has only given up three sacks all season. Powell-Ryland has the talent to wreck this game for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have to stay out of third and long, which goes back to running the football".

Let’s just hope ZP can stay healthy. Left side of OL needs to step up today See Quote from article below.

See quote from ESPN article concerning HK return for the Miami game.

"King has been listed as day-to-day, and sources told ESPN that he has improved enough where the staff expects him to be able to return for Georgia Tech's next game against No. 6 Miami on Nov. 9".

King entering behind his teammates for warmups. You know it's killing him not to play...but you also know he's gonna help coach up the guys on the sidelines like he did last week.

This is why we need to establish the run. Bring a TE to double the guy. A DL who pins his ears back is ripe for the draw, trap, etc. Pop him in the ear hole a few times and I will assure you he will slow his rush. Drop a draw right into the gap he just vacated and he will either slow down or fond himself on the bench.

Above all, make scoring drives count and stay ahead of the sticks. Varieties of different runs and short, quick passes are this O’s strength. VPI is #99 against the run. Make them pay.

Like the rest of y’all, I have no factual updates.

Schrödinger’s King makes good sense to keep our opponents guessing. But it’s naive to believe our coaching staff is totally clueless about his status before ND or VPI.

There are zero excuses to score just on TD in the last seven quarters of football.

Rewatched the vt game summary. Our defense line played solid.
In third quarter Vt used a number of trick or unusual plays in order to move ball. Flea flicker, double wr reverse, TE pass to qb.

And after a succesfull trick play to the 20 they ran down to set up in strong line left with TE in the line hiding as if he is a Right tackle. Our lb were running around totally confused. NO ONE CALLED TIME OUT. A THE SNAP THE TIGHT END JOGGED INTO THE END ZONE AFTER CATCHING A TD PASS WITH NO ONE NEAR HIM.

Pry prepared special plays to give his team some advantage.

At one point we had an injured #11 playing and a freshman rb back up. The starting qb is out.

Does Key call special plays or does he just rely on the dominating talent advantage we have at Alabama to wear down the opponents?

That’s the one glaring mistake I think was made yesterday: not calling the TO on that play. I was yelling but he couldn’t hear me. My cat did, though, and shot under the bed.

We were saving the TOs for their PAT attempts.

I don’t think any of our coaches are good in-game coaches.

To their credit, we generally play well early. I believe the only time we’ve trailed by the end of the 1Q this season was 8-7 to F$U. That’s a huge improvement from the past.

But I don’t think any of them are good at making adjustments, time management, or possessing the spider sense of thinking something’s not right / working and adjusting.

I think there is some truth to that. Being a head coach for only 1+ years, Key is still learning the game time decision making. Most head coaches at this level have much more experience even if it was at a lower level. Even HS. He will get better.
