I believe Ivey’s mom got into a Twitter war with some of our fans during the season.
That's really bad. I used to think we needed all our fans, but after I heard about some of the ones on twitter and that, I thought again. There are a few we could do without.

No way to know what caused Ivey to jump, though. NIL, bad coaching, who knows? We've got some strong headwinds against us.

This one definitely hurts.

Timing seems weird. Wonder if he put feelers out earlier but didn’t get much love but has recently?

Random to go in just as off-season training is picking up.

Maybe he is just finally taking his first lab science class and the first couple weeks of that ran him off?

I think Coach Coleman coaches these guys hard. He does not accept anything but their best. We have seen a good bit of attrition at the position he coaches. I think a lot of these guys that have been told they are great have a hard time hearing the truth. Coleman lets them know where they stand and I imagine Ivey did not like where he stood.

Go Jackets!

I thought gibbs was a big deal but since Ivey was my wife's favorite, within my family structure; this really sucks.

If cgc and guys do the next man up, I will be impressed. Maybe White will be healthy or lockhart can step up

Isn't Lockhart DT? I think Kennard is probably the most similar player we have to Ivey, in terms of his physical profile and he has shown some promise.

This one is just massively bizarre to me. Oh well, guess it’s gonna happen more and more in the wild Wild West.

Ivey already offered by Oregon and Miami (FL)
He is a very good player with tremendous potential. Nothing against Coach Coleman specifically, but I don't think these guys see their dreams coming to fruition with Coach Collins at the helm. I realize there is probably much underneath that we don't know, but my spidey senses are saying that the guys that have been there would say, "the more things change, the more they stay the same." I am not sure CGC has another method other than constant verbal positivity.

Any player we lose wasn’t that good to begin with but any player we pick up will be a huge talent for us. 😊
With every loss through the portal, the inevitable comment follows that it's no big loss because blah, blah will take his place and he was an underachiever and we'll be fine. We have now lost our best offensive player and perhaps three of our four best defensive players. This off a 3-9 team. The portal has hurt defense far more than offense, IMO. And our most promising pickups are on offense as well. I'm putting all my hope for next year on Chip Long, because he's the best hope we have - for now and the future.

Maybe Ivey could have achieved more as part of a better coached defense. Maybe he's leaving because we didn't hire a new DC. He probably feels he's wasting his time here.

There's an old joke my dad told me regarding my upcoming sophomore season. "The good news is you guys have the entire starting lineup coming back for another season. The bad news is you only won one game last year."

It's not a perfect analogy to my team's NAIA failures, but returnees from last year and portal departures all fall into the same category - GT was not very good last year and few of our players are irreplaceable.

Sorry Ivey was not one of our best. He is replaceable. DE is one of the deepest positions on the team. Lastly, I don't want a kid on the team that doesn't want to be there. Good luck to him at ole miss.

The reason why he didn't want to be here might be our problem.

More whistling in the dark.
So, if we were 9-3 that would be bad, but since we were 3-9 it's okay? We've lost three of our best four players on defense. It isn't good.
