No, he didn’t say that either.

Sure appears that way to pretty much everyone in the world except his appologists. context or not (which you’ve admitted that nobody who wasn’t in that meeting actually knows) and it’s not like trump can stay on point through a single sentence without a teleprompter anyway.

“In a meeting Thursday on immigration, Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers when they discussed protecting immigrants from certain countries, according to several people briefed on the meeting.

“Why are we having all these people from ****hole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these sources.“

The Washington Post broke a story revealing that during an Oval Office discussion regarding a bipartisan immigration deal, President Donald Trump referred to Haiti, El Salvador, and various African nations as “****hole countries” while refuting the idea of restoring protections for immigrants from those countries.

“Why are we having all these people from ****hole countries come here?”Trump reportedly told the lawmakers present during the meeting, including Senators **** Durbin and Lindsey Graham. He then apparently suggested that the United States should instead be looking to accept more immigrants from countries like Norway, whose prime minister he recently met.“

#1: none of the Democrats that were in the room got up and left, ran to a microphone after the meeting, or anything. They were only upset after the story broke.

#2: You should know better by now than to take anything a journalist says at face value.

#3: what you implied is not what the story reports.

This story wraps up the person that Donald Trump is and puts a big bow on it. The substance of what he says is defensible. But nobody in a leadership position like that should use that language - there is literally nothing to be gained by being vulgar and confrontational like that.

I am torn on this. Previously I would have agreed 100%. Now I am not so sure that we haven't gone so far down the wrong path that Trump understands that no matter what, some people are not going to like him because of his political affiliation, race, gender, wealth, etc. Therefore, that it's not possible to for him to say the "right things". Consequently, he trolls the opposition for lack of a better word. Maybe he knows he doesn't want a second term and is not concerned with appearances. Or perhaps his speech is designed with reelection in mind as a percentage of our population goes for the unfiltered talk.??? Who knows.
Who was the last politician that rallied the country across political lines? Reagan? I am not sure that we will ever see that again, especially since the media has changed its mission in the last several decades from covering the news to creating it.

Yes, we played a huge part in Haiti’s history as we have in the Dominican Republic. Why is it that one country is economically prosperous and a good place to live while the other is a major ****hole? Must be the United States’ fault.

DR is faaaaarrrrrr from being prosperous.

Yup. He's a total d!ck, so nobody wants to try to work with him. And it doesn't matter what he does, everyone lies and yells The Boy Who Cried Racism/Sexism/Islomophobism/etc so he (and tons of other people) don't even listen to the other side anymore.

If someone would 'be the bigger man' we could still be fine. If Democrats or Republicans just said 'screw him' and worked together, they wouldn't need to worry about the crazy old uncle in the White House tweeting.

The source of the quote was **** Durbin. After he bad mouthed a Republican from a private White House meeting in 2013, even Obama's press sec said that Durbin misrepresented what was said.

Link

Durbin called the term "chain migration" racist but has frequently used it himself

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...ose_whose_ancestors_came_to_us_in_chains.html

https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4706768/durbin-advocated-ending-chain-migration

If someone knows how to embed these, I don't.

Only someone with less integrity would defend Durbin's. Only a partisan dittohead would take his comments seriously.

Haiti is like the alcorn game and usa is the clemson game. Both games are played by people made by God..

Still no takers for my 2 alcorn game tickets for 1 clemson tickets.

To make ga tech better we can take any 2 players from alcorn or clemson. By way the d ends for clemson are staying in school and not going to nfl.

We act like the miracle of america is indestructible. The debt is 20,000,000,000,000. Half folks are workers. Half pay no tax and get safdty net. "The Workers" owe average of approx 250,000$ each . Throw in unfunded pensions , future entitlements cost curve and ....

With the coming automation of many jobs, imo it is silly to bring in any immigrants.

I draft the 2 clemson dt s 90 and 4!

So, let's see, the media which employs significant number of former Obama officials as "journalists" decides that something Trump says makes him racist, even though it is not explicitly racist.

They choose to ignore and not to mention the overview of facts about Trump:
  • he and Oprah have been close friends for something like 30 years. Ergo, if you believe he is a racist you must believe Oprah is tolerant of racists.
  • Trump received an award in 1986 for his “patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood and diversity” from the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation, along with Rosa Parks and Muhammed Ali....hmmm, quite the racist indeed!
  • in 1998 and again in 1999 Trump was an honored guest at the Rainbow Coalition Dinner in NYC and was lauded by Jesse Jackson.
Just maybe, Oprah and Jesse know him much better than former Obama officials who obviously have a political axe to grind here. I am genuinely surprised that people take what is said by former Democrat Administration officials and run with it as if it were the truth when they so very obviously have an agenda. I can only conclude that many people are hearing what they *want* to hear and not honestly evaluating all the facts in play.

Trump views the world through an economic lens. He is an economic-ist (I don't know the right word here) in that he judges most things by their economic value and impact. (Perhaps "classist sort of covers it.) The countries he mentioned are all quite poor and he has a genuine point about whether immigration policy shouldn't be focused on letting in the type of people who can help our country economically, rather than letting people in solely because of their color in the name of the false god of "diversity". Yet no one in the left wing propaganda sites (I now refuse to call them media anymore, they are merely propaganda sites now) wants to outline all the facts and have a relevant discussion, they simply want to scream out a narrative which they hope will damage his agenda.

If. Is. Frustrating.

It’s not like **** Durbin is the only person the reporting is based on, and the White House has not officially denied the reporting. Trump’s credibility is in the toilet- check that, it is in the septic tank, nobody believes him. Hell all they need to do is clarify the remarks and state that he was talking about the countries, not the people from the countries.

Trump has a 40 year history of racist actions and remarks.....b.s. bought awards and And Oprah’s friendship (wtf?) notwithstanding. This is not politically correct b.s, these are not just partisan attacks based on nothing, this man is a f’ng moron and human pondscum, why do yall keep defending him? I predict that Your going to hate him in a few years because he is poisoning your party, the gop is going to own everything he does and says forever. All that he has accomplished could have been done by any other normal gop president without the extra b.s., drama and division.

Part of the issue I have around all this is contained in your post....we all (or most of us) use terms like "f'ng moron" and "human pondscum" or the equivalent day to day. But yet we don't want the POTUS saying "****hole country". It's hypocritical and an unfair double standard.

I have used that term myself or its equivalent in reference (for example) to restaurants owned by Mexicans or Chinese or white people or black people or whomever. Lodging establishments owned by Indians or people whose ancestry I was completely unaware of at the time of my comment.. If I say a Chinese restaurant was a "@@@hole restaurant" am I disparaging a race of people? Or am I saying that the particular business did not maintain normally accepted standards of cleanliness or quality of fare? I believe sometimes a cigar is just in fact a cigar.

Why do I keep defending someone I didn’t vote for?

Why do you keep falsely accusing people of things they aren’t? The way you beat Trump is on substance and on the issues. By being The Boy Who Cried Racism, nobody list me or cares what the left says anymore. When literally everything you do or say is somehow racist, then you know it’s not worth caring or listening anymore.

People like Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton and Obama have 40 year histories of racist remarks, but I bet you don’t care at all about those.

In the paper today I read comments from multiple Republicans who were in the meeting. At least two in the article said they never heard Trump even use the word ****hole at all. Furthermore, they said that the comments they did hear him make did not match the town and substance he is accused of. So who knows what the real truth of the commentary was. All I know is that it is shockingly unbelievable how many private conversations are leaked to the media. People are utterly desperate to stop him to the point of clinical insanity.
