we (this great country) griped, fussed and complained about the last several ****holes. Now the current ****. Something tells me we will be doing the same thing again in 2024. It's how we roll. If you think this is fun, just imagine if ol' what's her name had won. We can laugh about it now of course. Until you stop and remember that some people actually voted for her.

I work with two Beautiful Haitian women. My church has performed missionary services in Haiti. By all accounts it's a beautiful country, I would love to go.
Same with Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana (which one of my best friends is married to a Beautiful women whose family immigrated from) or any country in Africa.
If it wasn't for Haiti this country wouldn't even exist:

It a has nothing to do with that. It’s letting people at random from a lottery come here who have no family ties, don’t plan to assimilate, and don’t have any evidence we can see that they become successful Americans. When you have a certain number of people you can choose each year, why would you pick that person over someone even from the same country who does?

They must think we are a @%*^hole country. But are too polite to say it. Or probably say it but we are too lazy to learn any other languages (although most of us have picked up enough to order beer(s) at the local Mexican restaurant). If we were to find out that a Norwegian has indeed use that phrase vis-a-vis the US, would it be racist? Should I be mad? Or would I laugh it off and wonder why a random Norwegian even cares one way or the other?

When the middle class pays almost 2/3 of the money they make in various taxes, I think that puts a limit on the number of people that want to go there. That and its so dang cold

Norway is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. One of the most educated. One of the most healthiest. They have one of the best livable countries in the world.
Funny how that happens when actual people are valued or taxes/money.

Yet after 1,000 years it’s less populated than South Carolina. It’s because descriptions like yours don’t include the full story. Otherwise daydreamers like you would move there.

OK, here’s my take on Haiti. It’s a ****hole country. I won’t advocate the President uttering those words because a major part of his job is diplomacy, but it’s not like he’s wrong. Here’s some specifics:
A. Human trafficking- they do little to nothing to stop it. Granted they managed to obtain 3 convictions since 2014 and this is heralded as massive progress, but given the extent of the activity over there that record is abysmal.
B. Child labor- fairly stout percentage of their manufacturing includes children. There’s little or no effort to stop it. They’re ranked down there with Bangladesh, Cambodia
C. Environmental policies- look at DR and tell me the Haitians even give a crap. I would characterize what they did to their natural resources as raping the land. I’m sure someone will point out a nice spot, but overall they have abused their land.
D. Irresponsible governance- look at what they did with the billions we gave them after the 2010 earthquake. Yeah I know Bill & Hillary looted most of the $$ but I didn’t exactly hear Haitians complaining. Bottom line they effed themselves due to their own corruption.
E. Lawlessness- remember the military coup in 1991 & Operation Uphold Democracy in 1994 to restore law and order. We help them rebuild/ re-establish their government, they still destroy themselves. On a side note this is another of Jimmy Carter’s greatest accomplishments! To be fair he had help from Colin Powell another foreign policy heavyweight under the guiding hand of Bubba’s right hand man Warren Christopher.
Sometimes it is what it is. One of my neighbors is Haitian. Fine fellow, hard working, etc. He came here lawfully and is a good citizen. Just because he’s a good guy & I personally like him and his family doesn’t mean his country isn’t still a ****hole. I can tell you he’s glad he still not in that ****hole like a lot of his friends.

I believe they will accept your immigration application. But maybe not. Many Euro countries have immigration policies that are *much* stricter than US policies unless you are a refugee. I know, I looked into it some years ago, and was not eligible to emigrate to my Euro countries of choice unless I brought in at least a half million dollars with me which would have to permanently remain in country.
