"lame" ??? It sure garners a lot of attention nationwide. There is nothing "lame" about that.
UT loves their checkerboard. I am glad they found something that is "them".

We are not UT and we should not try to be like UT. As I said, something like stripes or as previously mentioned "honeycomb" would at least fit with yellow jacket identity. Maybe during the white out, some section can be a big gold wreck, that'd be neat.

Here is a concept image Mizzou had to do tiger stripes: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/...aULnD-oWeRmfxwmF2z0VBdhZS2nNKi2klRKyxQVPjhXL1

They never succeeded that I know of, but I like that it's at least creative and not just mimicking UT.

We are GT. Let's innovate, not emulate.

I'm not in any way saying we should copy that, but it is definitely not "lame"

Hmm. I find UT'a checkerboard pattern to be lame. I understand it is historic, but I've never thought it was anything more than bland. When I say the checkerboard is lame, this is what I meant. I also was originally responding to someone else who actually said we should do what UT does. I realize you never said that, but it was said in this thread.

When their fans did the checkerboard the first time I thought it was neat, but I wasn't overwhelmed. I'm sure people who are into UT and SEC football got a bigger kick out of it than me.

Obviously a lot of people are more impressed with it than you. LOL

That Mizzou thing is very cool. Thx for that.

The ut checkerboard is great - for them.

Thing is - it seems to me - the success of these events is somewhat predicated on the stands being FULL.

Lame? Based on what? 102,000 fans?

Yes, checkerboard is UT. But I give them a lot credit for doing something.
I've already clarified what I meant in this thread. The first time they did the checkerboard was neat, but I really didn't think it was that big of a deal. B1G stadiums have been doing entire sections alternating long enough that the checkerboard didn't seem that cool. Again, the checkerboard is VERY UT, they should be doing stuff with checkerboards. GT shouldn't.

I think the checkerboard is TN.

That's branding.

That's why Kentucky's uniforms with blue checkerboard sleaves look like blue UT uniforms.

Imo, it would be foolish for us to try gold checkerboard for the same reason.

I think developing a hexacomb pattern is worth discussion. It's not traditional, but it's unique. I don't think it should replace our traditional unis, but could serve a complimentary role. Tifwiw.

I like that Russel tried with Hex pattern. It just failed miserably on the scrunched up shoulder pads. I can't envision how it would look in a good setting, but I'm open to the concept of done well.

As someone who had to wear Russell I can say I'm relieved. We didn't go to Tech for the gear but it SUCKED. We had a sneaker deal with Nike and the seniors picked the worst shoes. I'm 10 years out and have 2 shirts left out of 200. Both weight room shirts from Eddie Lee. I started buying under armor last 2 years because I heard they were frontrunners. The entire bookstore supported that. I sit on many boards and I love it. I will now buy addidas for everything. CPJ is right, doesn't matter who we have we'll still have the same athletes. I'll take a day with no news over a kid busted for parking wrong at a dumb quickemart and then getting busted for dumb sh** in his car. I'm thankful for Tech. (But the old timers need to learn style lol)

Our 2 colors are white and gold, and always have been. We should embrace these, I mean after all, we could be saddled with orange and purple, geez! WHITE symbolizes GOODNESS and PURITY, while GOLD symbolizes COURAGE and WISDOM. Our dreadful cousins to the east of us have to live with RED symbolizing BLOOD and WAR, and BLACK symbolizing DEATH and EVIL. Our tradition is gold hats, white shirts, and gold britches. When we can't wear white, we should reverse it to white helmets (no honeycomb, we not honey bees, we yellow jackets), gold jerseys, white pants. Who gives a flip if the golds don't match exactly! Whatever color gold and uniform Todd and his committee come up with, we ought to accept 100% as our brand, which we badly need.
