Miami has some decent fans that are unfortunately dominated by some real chauvinists. They are, as a whole however, not very appreciative of our team or program. In a way it's understandable because they've had a lopsided head-head, but on the whole we have been a better team. If we win, I don't expect a lot of credit given to us but rather a criticism of themselves. May be accurate given their repeated failures to live up to the hype.

Getting FSU out of the way with a win early is HUGE for University-7. Duke is Puke again, but its also good to get that game out of the way. Their other crossover game is Syracuse at home, which should be a fairly easy win. So if University-7 can beat us this weekend, they are in the driver's seat. VPISU has already lost to Clemson and has to play us at Bobby Dodd and has play University-7 at University-7. I think @Virgina won't be that easy for VPISU either.

After Georgia Tech, University-7 has Syracuse, UNC, Pitt, Virgina - and other than VPISU that's it. So if University-7 wins Saturday, they may finally be in the driver's seat to win the Coastal Division.

Even if they lose this Saturday, because of where they are and what's left, they still have a strong shot. But they would need us to lose 2 more, yet remain undefeated in ACC play themselves.

Got a question for you....I am taking my 5-year old to the game (driving down from Tampa). I have heard less than positive things about UM fans that attend the games. Do I have anything to worry about? Advice?
My wife would gut me if something happens to my son at a football game! Thanks a lot!

Yeah I've come to the conclusion that Miami fans are just as bad, if not worse than uga fans. I went to the UM GT game last year and that was the first time I've ever wanted to punch an 11 year old in his face lol and his dad wasnt any help. It's like you can't be a Miami fan if you're not annoying as hell

I went over there and I want our Miami visitor to get disabused of one notion that I saw a lot over on their website.

"We have to play disciplined football to win!"

Discipline has nothing, repeat nothing, to do with beating Tech. The reason why we usually are in the top 10 teams in the country running the ball and why the academies (and now New Mexico) are too is simple: everything the D does has an answer and our Coach knows what they are. You can be as disciplined as the Texas Aggie band and it will still involve choices by your DC about what to stop. So far this year, we've faced teams that have decided that they are going to stop the sweep and the pitch on the option. That's why Marshall and Benson are 1 and 4 among ACC RBs in total yardage: when you clog the lanes outside, you open lanes inside. Further, when you try a particular scheme to cut off a play, we don't change the play. I repeat, we don't change the play. We change the blocking scheme for the play. As Coach always says, we don't beat people by changing plays; we don't run more then 12 - 15 all season. What we change is how the play is blocked.

So - and I understand this - if it makes the fans feel better to think that "discipline" will allow the O to be stopped, go with it. But don't be fooled. What stops our O is either a) better players (Clemson in 2016) or b) turnovers. I think we can rule out better talent; da U isn't that much more talented. So to win what you guys will have to do is win the turnover battle. If the Football Gods are with you - like they were last year - we have a problem. If not, expect a prize fight going into the 4th and a very close game, no matter who wins.

To reciprocate, some more insight into GT. We have outplayed all our opponents this year pretty convincingly, but in very unfortunate fashion somehow lost our opener to Tennessee. TaQuon Marshall, the QB, has been much better than anticipated, and Kirvonte Benson the running back has filled in quite nicely after we lost Dedrick Mills due to violation of team rules (GT is transitioning from calling B-Backs and A-backs to running backs and slot backs, respectively). O-Line has had injuries, but overall played well. Most, if not all those injuries should be cleared up for the Miami game. WRs have been solid but haven't been used as much as normal, even in our offense, because it just hasn't really been needed. Ricky Juene is the biggest threat there.

On defense, we have good stats but have yet to really play a strong offensive team, so a lot of fans are unsure if we are good on that side of the ball or if it's just a product of the teams we've played. Our weakness would be the DL and linebackers, while our strength is the secondary. We have a lot of experience back there and they have played well, especially Junior Safety AJ Gray. Our biggest overall weakness this year has been special teams. We've had struggles at times with the kicking game, and both punt/kick returns as well as punt/kick coverage. Punter Pressley Harvin is our biggest weapon on special teams. We apparently spent a lot of the bye week working on a lot of these issues, so we will see how that pays off. Finally, we also have had some issues with turning the ball over.

I'm to young to say I remember the glory days I wasn't born yet during the 80's. I was 3 when we won our last championship. So I've only ever known our team being middle of the road.......... so I can't say we're back because I've never seen us "there". Our defensive line is our strength but everyone knows that we're very deep at that position. If I'm being honest after that all other positions are game by game. Some games certain positions perform well others no so much. Basically that part of out team I think is part can play against anyone.

And just for fun:
Against Bethune-Cookman, Miami was leading 24-6 in the 3rd quarter.
Against Toledo, Miami was losing 16-10 in the 3rd quarter.
Against Duke, Miami was leading 17-6 in the 4th quarter.
Against FSU, Miami was leading 10-3 heading into the 4th quarter.

Looks like maybe its not someone's pesky offense which is the problem here.

I can totally respect that opinion what I've seen of the Option is penetration into the backfield by the tackles or defensive ends can cause issues. Then again that can be said of any offense. So I'm expecting a GREAT hard fought game which is what we fans pay to see.
