Also LSU #13 at only 8-4 when Louisville was their only quality win. Auburn's only quality win was over LSU (barely) so their gross over-ratedness is sorta tied to one another. Louisville had a chance to knock-out both but let us down there.

Face it guys, outside ranking the top 10 or 15, very little analysis is done by the sports writers to fill out their ranking sheet. They revert to who should be good rather that who is good. That said, there is very little to separate teams outside the top 15 or so anyway. Barn gets the nod on conference division bias alone, nothing else. Same for LSwho.

This is a good thing, imo.

What does it really matter outside fans (us) egos?

If we want to be in the playoff, we have win the conference and do it with only one loss. That doesn't change if we're ranking 25 or 65 to start the season.

I'd much rather have the humongous shoulder chip all summer long.

F--- it. We control our own destiny in the polls because we'll face a ranked team in week 1. Then we have two gimmes that follow. If we start out 3-0 (very possible, if not probable), I see us around 20 heading into week 4.
Bingo. And preseason ranking goes out the window if we don't beat the Vols. I like the way this sets up for us. Find a way to win the opener and build off that.
