Are we really debating height when one of the best qb's in GT history was about 5'9"? You don't have to be 6'4" to be successful. Yates has gotten to where he is by being a playmaker. Some guys just have that it factor and can compensate for perceived weaknesses. If Yates doesn't win the starting job I doubt it will be because of his height.

Lighten up Francis. Many short qbs have been successful and many more typical qb builds have been successful. The numbers don’t lie, that doesn’t mean and nobody even said short qbs can’t win or be successful.

All most makes you wonder if Russell Wilson has any chance at all of making an NFL roster.

Lighten up? Lol. I'm not the one hung up on height. A playmaker is a playmaker.

Agree. Temple fans were not sad that he left.
Lets be honest... it's not like he had his QBs in the best position... there stats were horrible at Temple.
Coach P has had 1 QB have 1 decent season the past 4 years before coming to Atlanta. Posted his QBs stats in pictures below... Going from 2018 to 2017 at Temple, and 2016 and 2015 at Coastal Carolina

2018: Russo went 14 TDs to 14 ints with 2.5k yards. 14 TDs. He threw on average 26x a game and averaged 1TD and 1int a game. 😬

2017: Two QB system. Marchi finished with 9TDs and 8Ints for 1600 yards. Nutile went 12TDs and 7ints. Combined total of 21TDs and 15Ints and 3.2k passing yards. Not TERRIBLE, but still not ground breaking stuff.

2016: Coastal Carolina - Keane threw for 10TDs and 3 ints for only 800 yards. Stilley the backup QB went for 400 yards and 3 TDs and 1 int. Combined of 13TDs, 4Ints and 1200 yards. Not awful, but again... nothing special.

2015: Coastal Carolina - Ross threw for 3k yards, 21TDs and 7ints. This is more of what we are expecting. Maybe his lower numbers at Temple were due to less time to develop his own guys... but again, it has been 1 year in 4 that we see the production I think most of us expect.

Personally I think by 2021-2022 we should have a 3k plus yard QB, with over 25+ passing TDs. If not, we may not have the right guy. I'll give him 3 full years to figure out the QB room. Otherwise we have to move on. This year (if played) should be a 17+ passing TD year and I'd hope less than 10 Ints.

Well we have 3 QBs on this roster who are rated 4-stars. He’s never had a single 4-star QB. So let’s see what he can do here. Hell, I’m not sure he’s even had a 5.7 or 5.6 rated kid. He has like 5 on our roster.

You are fairly generous with your evaluation. IMO. I think the guy is in over his head but it doesn't matter since we are stuck with him for most likely all of the Collins era.

So then how about we put all of our support behind him and try to make him as successful as possible?

He will never be above criticism. I don't like him, not just bc he isn't a good coach, becasue he will be one of those coaches that will end up dividing the fan base like a Roof, Nix, and Groh
This guy has a pile of talent at QB and running back. Fasten your seatbelt and get ready for the arguments for the next few years about either his coaching ability or his available talent on the field. It will get interesting when he uses the O line and players not knowing the plays as excuses for for his lack of production.

As much as I’d like 3k yards, 25+ tds in 21-22, keep in mind our QB starter is likely to be a sophomore that year. Only 5 sophomores were able to achieve 3k yards last year and only 4 did both 3k and 25+. 3 Feshman pulled off those stats. If we can get to 2500+ and 20+ tds by 21-22 season, I’d be thrilled. I’m looking for 60%+ completion, and minimizing ints. I expect a balanced run/pass offense until we have upper class men QBs. That in combination with an improved defense should produce a winning season.

Tech hasn’t exactly been blessed with great passing QBs since Godsey. Based on our Pre option GT passing stats since Godsey (Godsey and Hamilton played less games per season)

2007: Taylor Bennett: 49.5%, 2136 yds, 7 TDs, 9 Int
2006: Reggie Ball: 44.4% 1820 yds, 20 tds, 14 int
2005: Reggie Ball: 48.7% 2165 yds, 11 tds, 12 ints
2004: Reggie Ball: 49.7% 2147 yds, 16 tds, 18 int
2003: Reggie Ball: 51.7%, 1996 yds, 10 tds, 11 ints
2002: AJ Suggs: 57.3%, 2242 yds, 12 tds, 15 ints
2001: George Godsey: 64.8%, 3085 yds,18 tds, 11 int
2000: George Godsey: 63.6%, 2906 yds, 23 tds, 6 int
1999: Joe Hamilton: 66.6%, 3060, 29 TDs, 11 int
1998: Joe Hamilton: 56%, 2166 yds, 17 tds, 8 int

Our last couple triple option years we were about 1000 yds passing; however, there were years where we exceeded 1700 passing yards.

Why choose to let him divide us? That’s your choice.

I thought our offense looked like the team didn’t even know the plays last year. Criticism is fair.

We had almost 1900 yards passing in 2014.

Collins isn’t dumb. If Patenaude proves himself inept then he’ll be gone. Collins won’t let Patenaude stop his career. Collins is a ladder climber who won’t be held back. We aren’t use to that around here. We’ve had the end of career type coaches for 20 years between Gailey and Johnson where GT was a landing spot for comfort. Collins is that guy we all know at work who may suck up, be a little odd, lives at the office, has no life, will do whatever it takes to move up the ladder. We may not necessarily like those types because they make us look soft, but we also admire them because it works. Collins has dragged his family all over this country to land finally get his dream job. He isn’t going to let one guy stop him. That’s why I’m all in. Heck of a recruiter and a ladder climber. Give me hungry all day long.

Doug flutie in Kyle Murray say hello. Both are right around five foot 10 in supposedly.
Flutie is not 5’10”. He’s likely 5’9” maybe even 5’8”. No shorter than 5’8” though. He’s taller than my wife by more than an inch. Maybe someone on here’s been around him more than me can make a call on what they think his exact height is but it’s most definitely not 5’10”. He’s a real nice guy. Nobody’s yanking out a tape measure & saying “Hey Doug mind if I measure you up and post your real height on the internet” but having been next to him many many times he’s not 5’10”.

I see this thread is trying to move from cyber measuring stick to CDP hate thread. Another day on the swarm

I’ve enjoyed the videos! Thoroughly enjoyed listening to Chris Martin in the last video. Sounds like the D Line is tired of being pushed around. Really hope we get to see it play out this year.

Interesting that you claim he will divide the fanbase when you are the one beating this drum against him after a season when we had basically no chance given the circumstances with our roster. BTW I would also suggest you take a look at the QBs be had to work with at Temple and how he left them versus how he found them.
