I disagree with this 100%
Before his injury Haywood's numbers were very similar to Jose's, yet one is ACC caliber and one not. That makes no sense.

Moses and Evan are expected to be ACC caliber players as JR, not as FR. Saying they are not ACC types is too early to make that statement.
Ramblin; I read all your post knowing you have good thoughts and information which I appreciate, but these guys absolutely do not show me any real talent as of now which would make the results you are speaking of. At best they might could play small college ball! They seem completely unsure of what they are doing on the court in all facets of the game. When you are that far behind the Q ball the mountain is way too to tall to climb. For Tech to make it to the level of the ncaa tourney Tech will have to sign some top 25 recruits. Not be completely ok with anything less. Maybe Pastner can get these type players. I hope so. Now I mean at least 1 in each class!

No.

No no no.

Some of you guys are fragile. I can say that because I’m a bit a fragile sometimes as well. CGB will be a fan favorite like Marvin by the time he is done I think.

Haywood was putting up really solid stats. Not just the three point shooting, but he was getting his fair share of rebounds and assists. He will be a very good contributor if he can stay healthy.

You're giving up on them way too early. Admittedly, nowadays, FR are starting to be a bit further along. Wright and, to a slightly lesser extent, Cole seem like FR from several years ago in the sense that they aren't likely to contribute at a high level early on.

Nothing necessarily wrong with that but, today, they appear waaaay off the pace. Especially if you, incorrectly (IMHO), compare them to 1-and-done types.

In reality, they're probably right where they should be expected to be. Next year they'll be a bit better. By year 3 (likely earlier), they'll both be very good contributors.

That's the normal progression that gets distorted when we see guys like Bagley come along. Well, our guys aren't expected to be NBA-caliber for 3 years or more whereas Bagley could probably play there now. That's a huge leap. Doesn't mean our guys are trash. Just on a very different development cycle.

That said, I'm not exactly 'ok' with us not swimming in the 1-and-done stream (I actually hate it but that's a whole other discussion). I understand the process though.

These guys do not understand the art of a simple pass or even catching a pass. Last night there one pass on the base line was thrown out of bounds. A simple 5 foot pass was completely messed up. These guys don,t know what their team mates can and can't do on the court. In other words they are lost when to make a certain type pass or not. They also look so unsure of when to shoot or not and not comfortable doing most anything! I'm sorry but this is plain for me to see for now and into the future!

I think you're being too harsh. They're freshmen and their raw. They will have many plays like that. Doesn't mean they won't improve.

Just that these are not the guys to get any team in any tourneys! It is all to clear! I'm sorry, but that is the truth!

Bad effort tonight - didn't really look like we even wanted to be in the gym.

It's tough to be a Georgia Tech fan right now, but things will get better. On to Duke, who'll be looking to rebound after a rough 2nd half tonight against UNC.
about the only good thing from last night was watching NC beat uke

Ignore button getting a workout again. I’m sure that any athletes who potentially read this message board will be very inspired to improve after they come on here and read how they aren’t players who can lead a team to the dance.

Naming specific players is just another atrocious way to go about it. If you’re a college aged kid this should be a learning experience. If you’re an adult you should be ashamed

All I know is that when i watched Haywood before his injury he looked like a future ACC level starter.
He took good shots, made good passes, rebounded and played defense.
There was a reason he was getting over 30 mpg.

I would have liked to see him be more aggressive with the ball in his hands but I think that will come in time

Gueye is. Ogbonda has the size for it. Moses has the frame to develop into it. And sorry. But adding some 15 mpg player from a low level Meac school isn't the answer. The pipe dream of landing an ACC level post player through the grad transfer market is just that. A pipe dream. We tried that in the previous staff and it failed miserably.
If we took in as many transfers as the previous staff, it probably would set the program back. devoe could come in and be a first year contributor like Josh/Jose but that's very rare for one the bigs to do that (especially the 3star variety). I think we've gotten much better than average production from Ben(for a 3star) but even he wasn't a big contributor til his 3rd year. It's not clear if Ogbonda can play in this league or if injuries are holding him back.. Cole,Moses,Kjorlan,Moore may all be more than one year away so I'd think the need for a big who can play immediately is what i'd call dire. Now is the time to go for it but i'd hope its not habit forming.

I'm going to say what no one is brave enough to say: (1) the ignore button is gonna get a workout again and (2) Haywood is going to come back and in time be even more aggressive.

One can dream of Haywood and Devoe being terrific wing shooters with Jose driving and dishing. Also think the opportunity exists for AD to use his strong post moves to draw defenders and kick it out to the perimeter.

That may be your truth, and it may hold true this year, but you saying it doesn't make it THE truth. Look at AD his freshman year or last year, or earlier this year. Everyone thought he'd be asked to transfer after he graduates to make room. now he's playing like a quality front court guy. Look at Lammers as a freshman and sophomore, compare that to his junior season and this year pre-injury. Sorry, you can't look at a 18/19 year old kid playing as a freshman and have any concept of what he'll do as a junior/senior. That's just crazy talk!

I,m sorry, but 2 of these guys looks like they need to know what the lines on the court are there for! And look I love GT sports!!! Back in the day when Curry was our coach and fans could help with recruiting; I was an official non paid recruiter! Curry came to my home town and I was called to meet him at the high school where we had a 1 hour talk. I had 2 assistant coaches on 2 separate times to come to my house for dinner. I attended a volunteer recruiting party at the Edge building. I was called by a high school coach to get over to a spring practice, because we did not have a coach there when about 6 coaches from other teams were there. I was called by the coach to get over to the gym and shoot baskets with recruit. I used to have season tkts to FB and BB and a Alexander Thorpe donor. I'm just saying I love tech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS I was on a first name bases with Doug Weaver and Kim King was a friend who I went to a house party of his in Coweta co.

Not really even sure what to say about this response to my post. I guess it was a response to my post since you led quoting my post.

You talk about your connection to GT Football/Basketball, dropping names. Great! Glad you're a GT fan, we need more of us. I don't question your loyalty or whether you're a fan of the program.

That being said, you saying it's the truth that you KNOW these kids won't amount to much in the ACC based on their play as freshmen is comical, boarding laughable. You're entitled to your opinion, but we're entitled to ridicule your opinion when you make silly statements. It doesn't mean that we don't believe you bleed Old Gold and White or that your less of a fan, but we've all seen tons of freshmen who were a hot mess that eventually "got it" and the light came on as they became upperclassmen.

Wright and Cole are definitely works-in-progress, but show flashes of promise. Haywood is a shooter, with a game similar to Marvin Lewis. At first I thought he would just be a spot-up 3-pt specialist like Anthony Morrow. Once Haywood became comfortable playing, he showed very good ability. I remember the very first time I saw LaBarrie play he missed a wide-open breakaway lay-up. I scratched my head, but he turned out to be a decent bench player. If that's all we get from Cole and Wright, that'll be fine. I personally think we'll see much more than that. We'll see in a couple of years.

We would be lucky if CH turns into Morrow. And i dont think you can call Morrow just a spot up shooter. If your just a spot up shooter you can score your 9-12 points on 3 or 4 3s and occasionally put up like 3 points. Morrow was dropping buckets regularly going for 20+. Also I loved Marvin Lewis when I was a kid and he had more team success but Morrow was the better player. And his 10+ year nba career would validate that.
