Again, make us/it a part of the Chick-fil-A Kick Off Classic Game set each year, and the $s that come with it, against an non-conference opponent and I am all in.

Too many already complain about our home games at BDS@HGF having too many visiting fans, wtf think will happen at MBS?

But not at the cost of a home game.

What exactly is this "cost"? Besides tradition and home field advantage, what's the big deal? I understand people are upset but if this helps our team in the long term then deal with it for one game per year.

I sound like a broken record, but playing one game a year at MBS will help with recruiting, money and exposure for our team. The neutral site games always get hyped up more than normal games nationally, that's just a fact. We are trying to change the perception of GT and this is a good way to start.

Clemson and UGA have already been close to 50/50 for the past few games, so what's the difference? We will bring more "sidewalk" fans and non-season ticket holder fans to this game as well so it will still be 50/50. It's not like BDS is some great home-field advantage for us against big name teams recently.

Ask yourself one question would Alabama , UGA, Auburn, or Clemson give up a home game to play in MBS they work out playing 7 home games a year and 8 if they can ? Why not just let Tech's baseball team stop playing at Tech and play their home games at SunTrust Park .

Ask yourself one question... Can you really compare us to Alabama, Clemson, UGA, or Auburn before becoming their peer in football?

ETA: Bama plays neutral site games every year, seems to be working ok for them.[/QUOTE]
Check out their schedule they still play 7 games at home.

One showcase game a year in a top flight NFL stadium is not the same as playing your full home schedule in one.

I agree it's every AD's job to raise funds, but you try to utilize that to deflect the fact that Todd is actually doing it for us compared to our past 3 ADs, who either didn't do it or did it when convenient for them.

This is an opportunity to potentially raise significant, incremental funds, but also potentially attract new sidewalk fans and excite recruits.

Traditions are great. BDS is great. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try something new, which doesn't mean permanent, that might create a benefit for the GTAA.
You want permanent sidewalk fans and recruits........you invite them to your home, not a hotel down the street.
Alabama got something like 4.5 million to play Duke in Atl next year. (Duke got 2 if IRRC) it is not going to raise significant money when you factor in the loss of parking, concessions etc. as well as piss of a lot of long time fans in order to accommodate visiting fans,

Once again, that’s not a Tech problem.
That’s a Tech fan problem. We can control what the stadium look every game no matter if it’s at BDS or 1.8 miles away at MBS

Are we Clemson, bama, or uga? Are we even in the same conversation??? No. We are going to get gimmicky to make money. We just don't have the fanbase yet and that doesn't happen over night.

Hell Heisman could of risen from the dead and been our new coach and we would still struggle to put 50k in the stands.

It is based on giving up a home game to play down the street.
Completely different if it were giving up a FCS game for a neutral site game and a bigger payday.

Right, but we don’t know any of the details yet. Unless I’ve missed the formal announcement.

If we can't get GT fans to show up en masse to a marquis game in our own backyard, even with all the juice surrounding our program right now, then it doesn't really matter what else we do or where we do it. Honestly, our fans are the only reason I would have to doubt Coach Collins' big plans for the program. We'd rather complain than just show up and cheer.

Yeah because they aren't cheap and have to resort to home and homes with the likes of USF and Tulane. We don't have their money, so we have to play by different rules.

Not if people aren't interested in your home... lol. Most "football fans" today go for it being a place to be seen or something to do. If we asked the majority of the people that show up to a Braves game, hawks game or Falcons game I doubt more than 15% could name a 3 relief pitchers, 2 second or third string bench players.

Most of us can name our entire team. That's not a fear perspective to have based on an average fan.

We as a page are rare. Sure we want fans like this but we need FAR more fans that show up to wear gold and just be a part of something.

Against a factory program, which is the only thing that makes any sense, these games will be defacto road games in our own backyard. How does getting pounded on national tv in a huge stadium filled with opposing fans partying for cameras help our brand/recruiting?

The biggest risk is alienating an already tiny season ticket fanbase who most primarily go to games to spend time on their alma mater campus to reminisce with old school chums and their families. GT/BDS way more family friendly than defacto away game across town surrounded by a sea of drunk/obnoxious enemy fans.

How many would have traded the 2015 FSU at BDS for one played down the road?
Big plays like that will always be remembered at BDS......not so much for a stadium down the road with a 20 year shelf life,

Against marquee programs they have already basically been defacto road games in our own STADIUM. Have you been to the UGA or Clemson games within the past 5 years?

Ok problem solved we shut down the football program because we ain't in the same conversation as Clemson, bama , or uga , and my wife will be happy cause I won't spend $2000 on season tickets. Now how about the basketball program ?

Nice try ignoring the incremental volume of premium seating that can be sold to everyone.

Hate to break this to you, but the half life on long time fans is rapidly deteriorating.

You keep using the same arguments and they're generally arguments that have us staying the course, headed for extinction, rather than trying to get an injection of juice and striving for higher aspirations.

Are you hopeful of being a dinosaur?
