Guys...

  • They are breaking in a new QB to replace the best QB in school history..
  • Their top two running backs from last year are gone.... The leading returning rusher has 111 career yards.
  • Leading receiver is gone...
  • 1st team all conference lineman is gone....
  • Leading defensive lineman are gone... both NFL draft picks.
  • Leading tackler is gone....
  • They haven't played an option team since 2015, which means most of these guys have never played against one. They gave up 428 rushing yards at 6.2ypc in that game against Navy. They also lost.

Good points. They beat Navy 52-45 in 2016, but that doesn't change your point.

Woops, missed that game. They gave up 616 yards of offense in that game either way. 6 yards per carry. You give up 6 yards per carry to GT and you aren't going to win unless the defense totally sucks.

I hate to say this but I have to agree. I feel more inclined to say we lose this game. Our defense looked good but it was Alcorn State. Our offense (filled with Seniors and Juniors) look very out of sync at times. Their QB (Barnett) looks like he will give our D fits but who knows. I will be rooting for the W but not shocked by an L.

This is the fun part of the early season. Until proven otherwise, why waste effort on being negative. We are undefeated and going to stay that way! I will enjoy it as long as possible.

For some of us, it takes more effort to be positive but you go ahead and carry the torch for us.

Georgia Tech 36, USF 24.

We score 7 touchdowns, miss every extra point, and go 0-2 on field goal attempts of 52 yards and 18 yards.

I recognize hyperbole. No ST in CFB history has been that bad........ I still think the missed EP last weekend may have included a bad snap ....... regardless it was missed.

My only solid prediction is that if we don't win, we won't make a bowl game. Only BG and UVa are more likely wins than USF. If we do win, we stay alive in the bowl hunt.

GT 34 USF 25. 5 TDs with one missed EP for us. No FG tries as we score a TD, turnover or punt. Only 2 TOs this game. 25 for USF since this is Atomic's prediction.

31 to 28 USF.

They score late to take the lead. We drive down within FG range and miss it with time expiring.

Guys...

  • They are breaking in a new QB to replace the best QB in school history.. correct although totally diff style
  • Their top two running backs from last year are gone.... The leading returning rusher has 111 career yards. our starter this year Cronkrite would be been the guy had he not been required to sit a year
  • Leading receiver is gone... true, although with an older McCants, Salomon, and possibly St. Felix coming on it looks stronger.
  • 1st team all conference lineman is gone.... the line scares me, mainly because it is unknown
  • Leading defensive lineman are gone... both NFL draft picks. we will miss them but CCS said the Dline was our strength. Hopefully he wasnt talking out of his ***
  • Leading tackler is gone.... yep, Sanchez was such a slow MLB that seemed to tackle everything. Played smart.
  • They haven't played an option team since 2015, which means most of these guys have never played against one. They gave up 428 rushing yards at 6.2ypc in that game against Navy. They also lost. we won and gave up most of the yards after we went up big and played annoyingly unagressive on D. Completely different coaching staff from then though, might be a bad thing for us...

Thanks.

On the last bullet, he was talking about 2015 not 2016.

You're right that the change in staff is significant. Your DC coached 2 seasons under CPJ at Tech, and CCS faced Navy at ND in 95 and 96 iirc.

It will be interesting.

Oh my bad, I just read last time we played an option team... I think BJ coaching under PJ has significance, I don't think the fact Charlie coached against the TO 20+ years ago is lol.

All I can hope is that this D has been preparing for this style of offense all offseason and didn't worry about Elon

Fwiw, CCS mentioned his facing CPJ 95/96 in his weekly press briefing and so did CPJ.

31-10 for the good guys. I think we see a heavy dose of B.B. runs. And eat up a ton of clock. CNW opens up the blitz package, we get pressure and a couple of sacks/to.

GT wins 38-17. Our team is more talented, more experienced (especially on offense), and better coached. I think our offense is going to roll considering Elon seemed to move the ball well on the ground. Heavy rain could throw a massive wrench into things though if it makes us turn the ball over.

If we don't win, I'm giving up beer for a week.
