You’re tough to follow. So you’re okay being below .500 for 5 years if we have one above average year? That’s the Rays example.

If you took Clemson away from being our permanent crossover and we rotated, I think it’s reasonable to average 9 wins or more. I don’t think that will happen so that being said, I think it’s reasonable to average 8 wins or more with occasional great seasons. I think we can be consistently better than anyone else in the Coastal.

If we can get some big bodies in here that can compete on the LOS all it takes is getting an elite QB to come here for a magical season. Got to start on the LOS first though.
I think, depending on our non-conference schedule, .500 give or take is probably about where we’re supposed to be. I’ve said this before, but it’s why I liked Paul. He gave us the boom years. I’m fine going 6-6 for four or five years if the sixth year we go 10-2 and beat uga. We should be competitive in the other seasons barring some critical mass of injuries, but I accept that if we play close games, we’re going to lose some.

Yeah, there was luck in all of those. The most forgotten play of that season was fourth and 15 at VT. We converted (not bad for a team that didn’t care about passing). There’s luck all over the place. But generally, if you’re beating teams by more than about ten points, it’s not lucky. It’s because you’re better. Over a large enough sample, that usually will revert back to the mean. Hell, we got three turnovers against uga inside our ten yard line, two of which were in the goal line. We got lucky. We also got unlucky against FSU and Carolina and Duke.

I did forget about that 4th and 15 against VT. Man that connection between JT and Smelter was special.

I agree on UNC. Duke was up 31-12 in the 4th. I don’t remember that game well, but doesn’t seem like luck played a factor. I don’t think it did against FSU either, but that was a fun game. Jemea balled out if I remember correctly. Also feel like this is one time when the GTAA hurt us. I don’t know if it would’ve worked out or not, but the best the defense player ever under CPJ was with Kelly at the helm and we got out manned by FSU. Would’ve like to have seen what he could’ve done running our D.

I agree with the last part. You’re bound to lose some close games. I just think better is there for the taking with how mediocre the Coastal is.

I agree with that, with the understanding that one day Miami is going to hire the right coach and when they do, they will be almost impossible to beat, too.

I mean, hell, go back and watch the VT game that season on YouTube. The throw before the touchdown to Smelter that tied it should have been picked. Hit their DB right in the hands.

Since I haven't read through the posts made before I got home, has anybody addressed the 3 pass interference calls today? From where I sat, all three were bogus calls. Any thoughts?
1 seemed legit, 2 were called on us amd ignored when the gaggers did the same thing in the 1st. The refs weren't too detrimental to this game, but they did seem to favor the puppies

Because he calls the plays, which invariably are slow to set up, resulting in long snap counts, unnecessary time outs, or delay of game calls, and he calls the plays which didn't today even capitalize on the first half turnovers that should have been followed by quick strikes. Instead he continued to call QB draws, runs off tackle, or short passes. Did you see a long downfield pass all day long? And yet that is what Graham has done so effectively in the past few games, especially against NC State. The man is a totally incompetent OC.

I wouldn't go quite that far. Getting the play in does seem to take far too long. Also, I would like to see them have some hot plays when they are set. There were three or four times today when the offense was set and the mutts were not ready. One of them, the mutts had about 15 players on the field. They were all close to the mutt sideline, not lined up. GT offense was lined up, the ball was set, the refs were waiting, and the play clock was running. They should be able to run something in that situation without waiting to look at the sidelines.

There has been little to no improvement on Defense this year. In fact, we are statistically worse than almost every defense fielded under CPJ.

The O leaving our D out to dry probably had a lot to do with that.

Just subjectively, I feel like the D is playing better this year. I think depth of the front seven and too many 3-n-outs by the offense caused a lot of the statistical indications.

Thank you!! I couldn’t agree more !! That’s the problem around here ! We get embarrassed & some of the people in here don’t even care , and reason I think is most people on here don’t know what shape a football is & don’t know anything about tech tradition & history . They’re on here to pass the time . But when I get mad & frustrated with us losing to these nad lickers in football & god forbid basketball I’m labeled a bad fan , to me a good fan shows passion & a bad one is ok or accepting of the crap show today

Been this way for awhile. I guess every man thinks his wife is pretty and will defend her honor but there is a limit.

This year I started out very frustrated but it has occurred to me that we just don’t have the players for this system yet, I therefore am accepting of the rebuild NOT apathy. I think it’s ok to be a little slow to anger right now.

Did anyone see Tre swilling get grab by the face mask and thrown head first in the railings. The punishment is missing half s game ? If that was 3 fans their a__ _ would have gotten handcuffed and locked up. The guy should b suspended for whole season next year if not kicked off the team.

I saw it but I also saw Tre throwing punches, it was a fight so I’m ok with the way it was handled. The replay could have resulted in Tre getting tossed also

It’s not unreasonable to be skeptical. Most have no problem with being skeptical. I’m very skeptical of our O coordinator, but also am rational enough to know it’s impossible to tell what his potential is with what he had to work with.

I can’t speak for everyone, but what frustrates me with the “skeptics” is that everything points to the offense for them and it seems it doesn’t matter if we have to use cheerleaders to block on our oline, the coaches suck because we didn’t transition to another option coach. Any non-option homer can see this was not going to be a good year prior to the season starting (see preseason over-under). Once Olineman started dropping it was only going to get worse.

The other thing that is annoying is that the same people that say we meed to run more and go under center complain about play calling when we do said things.

Honestly, they won’t be happy unless we fire this coach and hire another option coach. Which proves the point that they are more fans of Paul than GT.

This comment is asinine. Do people actually believe this? Questioning one’s fanhood because they are critical is the lowest form of defense imaginable and it’s constantly happening here. You can be a fan of something and still be critical. You should be critical after a 52-7 loss and a 3-9 season.

So you don’t think it was lucky that Watson got hurt in the Clemson game and their backup threw us 3 ints (2 of which went for Tds)? Or the Ugag game when all they had to do was kick it deep, instead they squibbed it (which was followed by the best 2 play sequence of that year!)? Or the GSU game where we get a fluky fumble while they’re driving in our territory to seal the game or we get lucky on a pitch that’s ruled a forward pass that could’ve easily gone the other way? Either of those don’t happen and we lose that game and season looks a lot different.

I will say it was “bad luck” that we scored so fast on the Smelter reverse in the UNC game because we all knew our defense wouldn’t hold. I’ll concede that could’ve been another win and hurt badly at the time.

Now I’m not complaining because it made for an awesome season. Also being a GT fan, I’m not used to getting lucky bounces. But to act like there wasn’t any luck in those games that helped us to achieve what we did is ignoring the truth.
I'll give you the others but we completely dominated that uga game. The 14 point swing on the most bull**** fumble call I've ever seen in my life was the only reason we needed any luck at all at the end. Don't give them that kind of credit. I'm still pissed at that horse **** and we ended up winning.

I was very skeptical of the OC early in the year. I couldn't see any semblance of an offensive identity. Since JG has been officially the starter, things have gotten better on that front. There are still some things that concern me about the offense(systematically, there are things player wise that concern me too) It takes too long to get the formation called in and then it takes too long to get the plays called in. Sometimes, the play clock has almost expired before the team even knows what play they are going to run. When the O takes the field(change of posession, beginning of half, etc), they line up and then check the side line for possible change of formation, then for the play. It doesn't look any different than how they line up for a 2nd and 7. It just doesn't appear efficient to me. Calling plays in from the sideline, they shouldn't have to wait until 4 seconds on the play clock before being ready to execute. After a timeout, or change of possession, they should have a formation and play ready to execute rapidly if it fits the defensive formation. I'm not saying that those things would have won the mutt game. However if the things the coaches can control was being executed flawlessly, I would be more supportive of the idea that the majority of issues are with players working in the new system. When there are obvious flaws with the coaching/system, it makes it difficult to measure how much of the issue is coaching and how much is players. I can see that we have issues with the size and experience of the OL, but I can also see that the system before the play isn't as smooth as top 25 teams.

Screw y'all, I'm gonna accentuate the positive.

- We outcoached them in the 1st half, badly. The depth of their talent got us along with us missing out on the opportunities we created.
- Swift got absolutely separated from the ball on that fumble. What a hit. And speaking of hits ...
- #14 schmashed the uGA guy on that onside kick. He probably asked if anybody got the license plate on the truck that hit him.

All in all, as our overall talent increases, we'll scale this mountain. Nothing they're doing schematically scares me at all. We don't even have to get that close to catch them.

And a bonus one, congrats to the uGA WR for showing his true colors and getting suspended for next week. You showed us.

Heh, dumbarse.
It was funny to me that a Dawg fan back of me in 106 wearing a Pickens jersey was escorted from the game and 2 minutes later so was his hero. I don't know what the dawg was doing to piss off the fans around him as he looked perfectly sober but they were excited to see him leave. Definitely unlike the classy lady Dawg sitting next to me that clapped the whole time when our cheer leaders were introduced.
