Just did some research. It's like redneck jambalaya. Gotta try this.My guy, I need to introduce you to the magical world of hoppin' johns. It'll change your life.
I agree, but collards and sweet potatoes add a lot to the experience. Then you lay a nice scoop of pulled pork next that beautiful trio and you have the makings of a full belly. A tall glass of iced tea is all you need to wash it down.My guy, I need to introduce you to the magical world of hoppin' johns. It'll change your life.

Yep. That's the real deal.Oh now you're just big-backin' like a pro.
I like to use smoked turkey wings. Pull em after a while, shred and mix the meat back in. Sorta like having pulled turkey, in a way. Oh and don't forget the cornbread, sir.
Damn bro, are you trying to make me fat? I don’t need your help with all these savory food ideas.Oh now you're just big-backin' like a pro.

L'Hopital's rule made everything easier. They should have taught that from the start.you're giving me "bad flashbacks"!
My daughter is trying to go to grad school at Johns Hopkins. Is that related? My guy, I need to introduce you to the magical world of hoppin' johns. It'll change your life.
No one put a gun to these kids heads saying complicate your life with agents and any other outside distraction. Choices have consequences in the adult worldThe sequential travels as shown in public media of Doryan Onwuchekwa (DO) paints a story to me that is interesting as a case study of the state of college basketball today. He was offered scholarships by several big schools before his senior year in high school, including TCU (coached by Jamie Dixon), Xavier (coached by Sean Miller, head coach to assistant Damon at Arizona), Colorado (coached by Tad Boyle), and Georgia Tech (coach by Damon Soudamire, recruited by assistant Terry Parker , Jr.). Tech made an offer to DO as the result of a relationship with assistant Terry Parker in Sep 2223. DO committed and signed a letter of intent to Colorado in Nov 2023. Coach Parker left Tech in Dec 2023 for personal reasons. DO withdrew the commitment from Colorado in Feb 2024. DO visited Tech several days before he signed a letter of intent with Tech around March 20, 2024. DO played his last game at Tech on Dec 15 2024 and did not return to the team due to announced personal reasons, although he is still enrolled in school spring semester. DO recently signed on with sports agent Greg Murphy of Miami-based Endurance Sports Management, LLC. https://www.endurancemgmt.com/#nextstepsection. Former Tech Coach Parker still resides in Atlanta as a basketball researcher. His LinkedIn posting says one of his jobs was NIL management and budget. Interesting. I draw no conclusions on why DO left the team, or the decision influencers. But, I am amazed that the life of the young 18-year-old DO is so complicated, after he grew up just wanting to play basketball and go to college. I do not know how today's athletes can focus just on basketball and studies and have a fun college life. The grown-ups sure have made the kid's lives much more complicated.

Sure, but some of us didn’t have very well developed decision making skills at 18 due to a slow developing prefrontal lobe. Had it not been for adults giving us solid guidance we probably would’ve ended up in the cemetery. No one put a gun to these kids heads saying complicate your life with agents and any other outside distraction. I just hope that in spite of all the sleeze bags that are in college ball now he gets some good advice.
Exactly...from what I have heard, this has nothing to do with agents or the current landscape of high-level recruiting. He’s got to want to listen
I cooked my blackeyes with the collards....added a big ol' ham hock for flavor. Served with a ham, a side of rice, and cornbread. Living high on the hog!Had some black eyed peas on new years with smoked bacon. Delicious.
My UNC neighbor & I are confined to quarters this morning due to six inches of snow overnight. It's been a while since I last saw this much here in eastern NC. But, our social media convo is alive and well. He said UNC talked to DO briefly before he signed with Colorado. They said he felt the recruiting sites were under-ranking him. If that's an accurate statement, he might not take criticism too well. Especially if comes in front of his teammates.Exactly...from what I have heard, this has nothing to do with agents or the current landscape of high-level recruiting.
This is a case of extreme immaturity and poor decision making by a kid that essentially quit on his team because he didn't like getting yelled at in practice.
If the story I have heard is true, it is a pretty damning assessment of DO.
Maybe the mods can place it in the mythical politics section???Doesn’t this discussion belong in the Swarm Lounge instead of the basketball topic?
Why is "mom" or "dad" letting a stranger ie an agent do their job? Greed is the real enemy here.Kids are seeing $ signs instead of what is really important in choosing a school. Choosing based on NIL is like building a home on sand instead of concrete. A lot of these people are chosing the sand unfortunately.Sure, but some of us didn’t have very well developed decision making skills at 18 due to a slow developing prefrontal lobe. He definitely couldn't have played for Coach Tommy Blackshear at Tift County High-School. One of the best coaches I have ever been around, one of the best coaches in GHSA basketball history, but he would curse you out at the drop of a time if you didn't hustle or play D.My UNC neighbor & I are confined to quarters this morning due to six inches of snow overnight. The most embarrassment I ever felt on a basketball court was when my coach screamed at me that I was too good of a player to make that stupid mistake. He was right, but it still stung. He invited me to be a fulltime student at the end of my sophomore season. Which I did.
How do you know that his mom or dad are still in the picture or that they're worth a damn? Why is "mom" or "dad" letting a stranger ie an agent do their job? We might know all there is to know about a kid from a basketball perspective, but we often know very little about their home life or upbringing.
It could be that his mom or dad make worse decisions than him. It is not uncommon.
