I had a semi-annual appointment with a pulmonary specialist today, and I asked him if I should be wearing a mask. His answer was, "no, not really". In fact, he said that he himself had only started wearing a mask in the past week, and then only around his patients. I also asked him if the pneumonia shots I got 2 years ago would have any beneficial effect for me if I contracted the virus. And he said, "DEFINITELY". Obviously those shots won't prevent me from contracting the virus, but they will have a MAJOR effect in preventing the virus from morphing into pneumonia, which it does in most, if not all cases.

Dude, I haven't said a negative word to anybody. Good gracious golly alive honest to pete jiminy christmas.
You referred to him "trolling". That's pretty negative in my book. I may not agree with what he says, but I just choose to ignore it, because I like him for other reasons. Just like I don't like your calling Trump names, but I like you a helluva lot for standing up for him when he is falsely accused of things. So I just ignore your name calling of Trump, just like I ignore @LibertyTurns similar statements. So, I repeat, just CHILL, man !!!

I haven't said a word to someone all day, then he shows up and tries to pick a fight. And you get mad at me for warning him not to pick a fight. LOL.

On the other hand, I simply cannot sit quietly by and ignore the crap that some like @bobongo posts, because most of his posts are distortions of fact, if not downright lies.

I get it, but there is a difference between someone saying something you don't like about a site member and someone saying something you don't like about someone else, like a politician.

Anyway, change of subject back to the thread. Sweden again had another record worst day. I think the clock is ticking on them where they will need to revert to what everybody else has done in terms of shutting things down more tightly than they have. We will see.

ABC News, in an example of good journalism, dug up numbers of travelers from various countries in January, February, and March.

More evidence here of how China just took a big steaming dump on the world. Northern Italy has the highest concentration of Chinese people in all of Europe. When the disease broke out in China, its clear that tons and tons and tons of people all fled to stay with extended family.

Generally agree, except they counted travelers in December, January and February (to correct your original post above). That's likely still the relevant period, as I count myself amongst those who think this virus began perhaps sometime in November in Wuhan, and likely because it "escaped" from one of the virology labs in Wuhan as surmised by the Chinese themselves. (NB-Not a conspriracy theory, as I see no evidence this was an engineered virus, but apparently the bats this virus comes from were in those labs but NOT in the wet market next door.

You're trolling again, which is against the site rules. Sad.

What in the world are you crying about this time? If not agreeing with you is trolling do you mind if I mark this post as trolling?

The problem with this math is the numbers eventually stop. They don’t continue for infinity.
Take that into account, just a suggestion. Based on these numbers the world would come to an end, you realize that?

You and Belbo should take a Xanax and have a nice glass of wine. It’s going to be okay.

Absolutely, I agree with you, it will not go on to infinity (would actually not be a good virus if it did, a good virus doesn't want kill all the people as it needs to keep replicating).
But I would like to limit its effects. There is a big difference between 50-60K dying, and 400-500K.

FWIW, today was a really bad day in New Orleans. It is arguably the second biggest hot spot in the country among a large city after NYC. Louisiana is now 2nd in the country in deaths per 100K behind only NY.

I think we all want to limit its effects, but your numbers are tied to unrealistic outcomes yet you 2 continue to post them every 3 minutes. The numbers simply cannot exponentially increase as you’re implying. You surely understand that? I think that you do in all honesty.

Some 97% of those killed by COVID-19 in Louisiana had a preexisting condition, according to the state health department. Diabetes was seen in 40% of the deaths, obesity in 25%, chronic kidney disease in 23% and cardiac problems in 21%.

New Orleans, which so far has reported more than 270 coronavirus deaths, could be a harbinger for the potential toll the pandemic could take in other parts of the South and Midwest that also have high rates of obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.
