I didn't say jail...no one in jail needs to suffer because one person decided to be selfish.

All I'm saying is if you need medical care, you should go to the end of line until those that decided to follow the advice of medical experts are treated first. You knew the consequences, you decided to continue to act against the advice of medical experts, now you have a bill to pay in the form of forfeit of immediate medical attention.

It's like saving for retirement. You don't need to save for retirement, but when it comes time for you to retire, good luck...

Yeah, i get that its a tough situation but the law can't just let folks who know they have symptoms serially spread. I wouldn't want to see an outbreak in jail either. It may be a moot point as it would be hard to know who is doing what anyways.

That was the greater point I was making without saying it. It's just not "you" that's being affected, it's everyone around you.

@jwsavhGT asked about the bartenders/cooks/waiters/etc. who are affected when they shut down restaurants, but what happens if one of them get sick because an idiot who is unknowingly infected comes in to their establishment, infects them...puts them down for 2-3 weeks from the virus? Now not only do they miss on 2 weeks of earnings ability, but now they have medical expenses to pay...and because they got infected, think of the infection they gave customers?

No easy answer to this. Best thing to do is follow the advice of medical experts and self contain ourselves. Unfortunately, you know that's not going to happen because some people think this is all overblown or a hoax, or some people are just selfish.

Why should people who did the right thing have to suffer because a bunch of people who didn't do the right thing? There's information available about what can happen if you catch the virus, regardless of age, so if people understand it and still opt to act irresponsibly, hey...may God be with you.

What does it matter...if it's all just hype and a hoax, those who choose to act against the advice of medical professionals have nothing to worry about, right?

I agree 100%.

The problem occurs when all the people who were irresponsible about protecting themselves from an epidemic end up occupying all of the critical care beds in hospitals, while the people who were more careful—but nevertheless got infected because of all the other dumb-asses—end up needing hospital beds that are now unavailable.

Quite a few on here refuse to accept that even if you're perfectly healthy and get "only a fever" you're still part of the infection chain that could lead to dire consequences.

The problem is everyone knows they can act irresponsibly and the government will still bail them out. Has been that way for years and years and years and is ingrained in how people live.

That’s fine in principle, but how do you prove who’s deserving of immediate care, and who isn’t? And besides, try telling health care professionals to turn away patients who are “undeserving”.

The hard truth is that there are no simple answers in this situation.

I was just giving a scenerio for those who continue to flood bars and public spaces. Give them something to sign to waive their ability to get medical attention behind those that actually follow directions. Once they sign it...let them do what they want.

Obviously, pie in the sky wish, but I bet if we could do it, those people will be less likely to go against the advice of medical experts.

This is certainly not a hoax but it is definitely overblown. If we are well, we should continue to patronize our local establishments. I'm not going to be crazy about it, but I'm not giving up my freedom either.

We all know there’s tons of outstanding Americans in civil service. Problem is unlike business where the inefficient & incompetent are run off (God forbid if someone works at a company that doesn’t) or they bankrupt their company compelling changes, it’s damn near impossible to cashier an incompetent government employee or a bad government operation/program. They just chum along expecting the taxpayer to fund their form of welfare squandering resources while needy programs/services go unfunded.

Well, to be the skeptic again: in private business if you get HR involved it is about impossible to "run anybody off". Right or wrong, the presumption that private industry gets it right is just wrong. Besides which, government isn't a business and can't be run like it. I have matched my civil servant friends horror story for horror story.

We're only continuing to drag this out by going to bars and clubs because we're healthy so no big deal if we catch it and running into 5 different grocery stores in one day due to FOMO of ****ing toilet paper.
