Happening at major us airports. Smh, it's like we are a 3rd world country & still no ****ing tests unless you're an NBA player.

Come to South Carolina. We have a website to tell you what testing site is closest to you and have drive-thru test capabilities.

LOL. OK buddy...if you refuse to read the articles I link to, you have ZERO place to say anything. ZERO.

BTW, the literal playbook to slow and mitigate the virus was given to us by other countries. In fact, other countries even gave us a preview a month ahead of time. It doesn't take a genius to know "learn from other's mistakes..."

If we can't learn from other countries...what are you really saying?!
And once again, the bureaucrats at the CDC showed their azzes by refusing any outside assistance, including WHO test kits. That apparently only happened recently, and Trump's actions since then have, although not allowing WHO test kits, definitely produced more test kits for the nation than the CDC was providing.

I wish the news media including MSNBC and Fox would concentrate on facts and disease instead of political blame. I wish there wasn't as much political jabbering in this thread.

The Kemp news conference on Thursday was done pretty well. He had department heads there to speak and answer questions. He had the Democratic mayor of Atlanta there to speak about what the city is doing. He didn't say that HE was doing things to keep Georgians from getting sick. Lance-Bottoms didn't say that the governor was to blame for Georgians getting sick. They spoke about what they are doing, what different departments are doing, and what the public should be doing. That is how you lead. Saying either that YOU are preventing things or that the other guy is causing issues for political points is distracting people in the public from paying attention to what is important. In my opinion, it is disgusting for politicians of either party or commentators of any part of the political spectrum to play the blame game in the middle of a crisis. There will be plenty of time to assign blame afterwords.

He never called the virus a hoax; he called the media reaction to it, blaming him in part for it, a hoax.
To some extent, and I have no idea whether this was intentional or not, nor do you, his downplaying it initially COULD have been for the purpose of not causing a panic or possible over-reaction. Unfortunately, the media did that instead, and that's what he referred to as a hoax. As far as the weeks that were wasted, yes, but again, that falls at the feet of the CDC, FDA, and NHS. I guess it is reasonable to say that he was responsible for his actions once he found out what was going on, but, as been the case many times in the past, what different could he have done? Previous Presidents haven't been able to do much of anything in light of CDC malfeasance either. As is the case with most government agencies, it is a bureaucratic nightmare and a prime reason we should NEVER entrust our health services to the Federal Government. I don't know if you are aware or not, but on (gasp) Fox News, I heard Thursday that we are woefully short of ventilators in this country, and NYC alone could suffer very soon because of that shortage. I HOPE that somebody in the administration is trying to get that mess worked out. It's easy for you, or anyone, to say that "what we did in the last few days should have been done weeks ago", but again it's just typical of the giant government bureaucracy, otherwise known as the Swamp.

One of the reasons I had hope for Trump was that he was willing to say "F you...you're gonna do what this country needs, or I'm going to make your life hell." He was not part of the "establishment". My hope was that he would use that and get things done regardless of party politics. He got the R's in line quick! Remember all of the R's that criticized him before he won the election? They were the first to line up to kiss his rear.

I think Trump gets a lot of undeserved criticism. He's gotten some policies done that I think are good for the country, and some that aren't so good for the country (which we can save for another thread). I do think he was slow to act on the coronavirus because for some reason he thought having to admit it's a problem would reflect poorly on him...I think if he would have put his full weight into the CDC and FDA, like he did the last few days, earlier when the coronavirus first hit it would have gone a LONG way. As I mentioned earlier, Trump has executive privileges and he can exercise them to speed the gears of regulations...which he just did. It should have been done sooner.

My hope is that EVERYONE...Dems, Republicans, people that work for the CDC and FDA, and ESPECIALLY the general public all do what we need to do so we can get though this as soon as possible. If anything, the public has more power to get rid of this than anyone one government or entity.

I am sure this will surprise you, but I thought that overall that was an excellent post. My only complaint would be your assumption that admitting a problem would reflect poorly on him. We have no idea at all on that count. But aside from that, it was a well put post. Thank you.

On the world news tonight, they said 2 emergency room doctors were in critical condition from COVID-19 up in the NY area. That’s a little distressing, because I’m guessing these 2 are probably not 70-80+ years old, and they are presumably smart people that would be self-aware of their symptoms.

LOL, I've always felt we had a healthy respect for each other's differences. Always enjoyed our interactions.

Except Navy Blue. Navy blue looks good on me. :)

I don't know if they had any preexisting conditions but there are plenty of doctors and nurses out there with Type 1 diabetes, Crohn's, etc working their asses off in this environment.

XBox live apparently had a service disruption 3 hours ago. Normally, meh, but I’m sure the service is getting extra work today.

I just hit the numbers website again. I am beginning to think China way way under reported their numbers. Like way. :D Ital reported 3,000 new cases JUST TODAY. Across Europe it’s everywhere. Even small countries. Norway has 1,200 (that’s 80,000 per capita here). Iceland’s per capita positives is 95,000. Damn.
