DRad managed to get Hewitt the St John's offer the last time I felt this sick but CPHs family vetoed. Hope!

If DePaul offers CBG a bbetter deal than he has now... I hope he takes it and is successful. That'll remove a lot of moaning and groaning regarding GT basketball.
It shouldn't be hard to beat $2.4 million guaranteed. Any 5 year deal above just about $500k per year...

This is an unbelievably good article on Marshall - and why GT would never have a shot in the world at him.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/feature/25110905/marshalls-plan

When's the last time GT pulled in that kind of coach in any of our revenue sports? Top tier mid-major coach deemed to be "the next big thing" if he left his current situation? Don't think we'll ever get the Urban Meyer from Utah (before they joined the PAC12), or the Marshalls of the college coaching world. CPJ is the closest we've gotten, but he came with an asterisk due to his offense.

Our wheelhouse is the little known but very good coaches from smaller programs (Cremins, Hewitt) or the really good assistants (O'Leary, Gailey). Hewitt was actually a really good hire...the contract extension Braine gave him made him a bad hire.

I've liked Marshall for a while...but he's like that brand new car everyone wants when we get our driver's license. Fun to day dream about, but the reality is GT is getting handed down the very dependable and very functional family sedan.

Thanks for the link, would never have read this otherwise. And yeah Red, Parrish wrote a superb article.

This quote from the article: "We have a nationally relevant program, and that's what I want to maintain -- a nationally relevant program … like Gonzaga. Gonzaga is nationally relevant. VCU is nationally relevant. Butler is nationally relevant. And we are nationally relevant."

GT used to be but, alas, is no more. We could use some luck.

Remembering back, Cremins signed a short, slow guard from Okla and a 6'7" motor mouth forward from NYC, neither player in high demand. Cremins got lucky; Price and Salley built GT into a program that mattered nationally. One of the great thrills from those years was watching Salley and Yvon Joseph play a 2 man game on each side of the key. Wonderful basketball.

Luck never hurts.

I guess our last hope is that DePaul hires him, but looks like they have other guys on their list http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/03/17/emma-depaul-job-could-attract-prime-candidates/
including Ben Howland, Tom Crean and Bobby Hurley. They probably have over-inflated views of how good that job is (as we probably do too) and they do complain that Izzo takes all their intown talent, so maybe they hire CGB and hope Izzo lays off his recruits...

I contend DePaul isn't the only spot where cBG could make comparable dollars and start fresh. Illinois-Chicago is open too IIUC. Just sayin'

I don't think Gregory will leave GT this offseason. That is not his personality. He will double down, work hard and try to make the program better - will probably not succeed, but he will try.

After next season is the earliest I could see Gregory look to leave.

Yeah, that's part of the reason no one really attacks him personally. He's really a stand-up guy. Any other coach would've been long gone to greener (i.e. more comfortable) pastures.

Rumors are strengthening that Dollar could be leaving. No link, but I do have a source. Would open up a spot for a guy that could recruit in state or is strong in late game situations (insert name here).

Rumor: Dollar a finalist for Henderson St. HC post.

http://hoopdirt.com/blog/875966c7/henderson-state-finalists/
Chad Dollar (Georgia Tech – Associate Head Coach). Long-time DI assistant who has been at Georgia Tech for the past four seasons. Dollar was an assistant at Arkansas State when current Henderson State President Glendell Jones, Jr worked there. Word is that Dollar’s wife was on Jones’ administrative staff at ASU. Dollar has also worked as an assistant at Wichita State, LSU, Murray State, Georgia Southern, Eastern Kentucky, and Western Carolina.

Can't put stock in everything you see on twitter, but we may have nailed this one.

Yeah, there's a lot of smoke there. Plus, if I read Dollar's twitter correctly, he "followed" Henderson U. not long ago. It'd be good for him. He's about at the point where he should be moving in the direction of being a HC.

If cBG's tenure had been more fruitful he probably would've garnered a bigger school but nothing wrong with starting there and working up.

Yeah. That's what I was referring to. He followed 5 accounts related to Henderson State a couple of weeks ago. I think I posted a cryptic item about it.

dtm sniffed this one out well in advance. Nice work brah!

May be viewed as a negative by some, but I look at this as an opportunity to bring in someone that is a closer on the recruiting trail.

No knock on CD because he built a lot of bridges and put us in good position with many, but the results recently speak for themselves.

The head coach is ultimately responsible for it, but when they came in, I thought that CCD was going to help lock Atlanta down.

Hmm, that interesting. Keep CuseJ away from the sharp objects I guess.

Good of him to see them through the mess he created or to at least plan on seeing them through it. I thought for sure he'd fade off into the bolivian (10 pts for another mike tyson quote reference) sooner than that.
