Im just spit balling here but as a for instance. Everyone is somewhat worried that that we may be a stepping stone program right now for the right coach.

Is it feasible that say we bring in White, he is going to be here 4 years. 15-16, 16-17,17-18, 18-19. During that time frame is it safe to assume we would be out from under the financial constraints of both the firings of Hewitt and CBG? Therefor if a guy like White or Underwood does bolt for greener pastures we would be able to offer more $$ to either retain them or bring in somebody new?

Short of landing JB (not happening), there is very little that could get me excited for next season if this is true.
It's another year off the BG contract.

After much consideration, it's time for the GTAA to get fiscally responsible. If that means we have to put up with frustratingly subpar basketball for the next 3 years, then so be it. The program is at about rock-bottom right now. Letting Gregory work through his contract, without renewing it, will cost us 3 seasons. At that point, we won't be paying anyone to not coach us anymore and we'll be able to go out and get the guy we want. Every thing we have to sell today, we'll have to sell in 3 years, plus we'll have more $. Whomever is brought in, if it's a big enough name, will be able to recruit to compete the first year. Not worried about long term damage to the program because that's the way basketball is today. One good class, and you're competitive again. Two classes and you're dancing.

6 years and 4 post seasons and Grant gets fired. 4 years and extreme suck age and we are stuck with this guy.

I'm completely out of sorts. Our AA makes Ben Cherington look like a brilliant sports architectural mind.

I'm starting to feel sorry for CBG at this point.

Not saying I'm happy with the news that is currently being reported. But everyone seems to agree that he's a good guy that's in over his head. You would hope this would have been resolved as quietly as possible. But "news" leaked last week that he would be let go. How must it feel to know the only reason you are currently employed is because they don't have the money to fire you? I would have said because they can't afford to fire you, but that leaves it open to interpretation. It seems this is solely about the money. The message seems to be that we can't afford to pay two guys (really three I guess) to do your job so I guess we will have to keep you. Has to be demoralizing.

I think this is as bad as it could have gone down for everyone involved.

I get your point, but as a selfish GT fan, I kinda hope this might get CBG to go out and try and find employment elsewhere in the next few weeks.

Let me translate Goodman's tweet for everyone. GT is saying, "Stay away, DePaul! CBG is a valued member of GT community. In no way is he on the hot seat. If you hire him, you'll be stealing an ACC coach from where he is wanted and loved. Hiring CBG now would be like throwing GT into the briar patcth."

This.

I had a job where, after new mgt was brought in, everybody in my department was laid off except me. I had a few accounts that were too tricky for anyone else to deal with right away. So new mgt tells me how important I am and how they really wanted me around. All the while, I know good and well they couldn't afford for me to leave (right now). There was no way I could trust anything they said so, despite being "an important part of the future", I was interviewing and got a job within the month.

I can definitely see BG leaving on his own accord if he can get comparable money. He's got to know the proverbial temperature of the room.

If you are anyone in this situation (even CBG) you are seriously hoping that Depaul continues to Depaul and comes...........Depauling..............

Hey, their hiring of Oliver Purnell was almost as head-scratching as it would be if they hired BG. C'mon Blue Demons. Do what you do best.

Just for kicks... looks like somebody is seeking to avoid accountability on the back end. At least their not using Eddie Fogler.

If DePaul offers CBG a bbetter deal than he has now... I hope he takes it and is successful. That'll remove a lot of moaning and groaning regarding GT basketball.
