100% agree with the last comment. WTBS, I think that there are certain innate or God-given skills in sports ("feel" in golf, "touch" in FB passing or basketball shooting, "hands" in receiving) that one either has or doesn't. Of course, coaching can improve anybody willing to do the work to get better with the skillset they are given. But I wonder how their receivers covered up this deficiency in the scouting process?????
Yeah, hard to coach hand-eye coordination. You either got it or you don't.

I told my golfing buddies that I think I could start at WR for Uga, even with my 7.2 40 second time. Although I would struggle to get open I would at least catch the occasional ball. You know how a lot of teams crowd the box and dare QB's to beat them with their arms? Teams should do that to Uga but with the concept that Uga's receivers are going to have to beat them with their hands.

My SIL, who is a huge Dwag fan/alum and also has a fairly good understanding of the game, summarized the loss to ND quite succintly. She said that if it wasn't ND, Uga was going to lose eventually. Can't catch and struggle blocking at times. They weren't a NC team this year with or without Beck and she has maintained that for the latter part of the season.
Uga had a great season but they were not a complete team. Texas is the same. Loaded with talent but areas where they fail to perform. Both teams were capable getting up for one game where they put it all together but too inconsistent to play many good teams and win them all.

UGA fans are morons. Bobo isn’t getting fired and Buster isn’t leaving on year 3 of this rebuild with the best offense possibly in the country..

After this year I believe Buster gets a legit head coaching offer and will most likely take it as his son is a rising senior at North Oconee.
You had me until best offense in the country. Facts sir, just the facts.

I will bet you right now we finish in the top 5 offensively next year. We may have the deepest offensive line in the ACC, best returning Quarterback and the deepest backfield with an added All American (Eric Rivers) at WR. If you can think of another team who has what Tech has returning offensively I’m all ears to the rebuttal.

Top 5 offensively in the ACC, likely, Top 5 in the FBS, highly unlikely! Also it's January and we have zero idea how many of our players will still be on the team come August! I would take the bet against you in a heart beat! As I don't bet real money a virtual "you were right" bet works!

Top 5 by which metrics? Just PPG? I would be highly surprised.

Bookmarked post. I’m just asking as of right now who has more returning in college football? Much less the ACC. Point to a deeper front 5 and skill position group. You didn’t you just said you’d take the bet lol

Tech was 3rd in yards per game in the ACC this year and 6th in PPG with King out half the year. You really give Tech zero credibility in the majority of your posts or simply don’t watch the games..

The problem with that level of expectation is you just don't know how long our Quarterback will be able to stay on the field. While I admire his guts and his determination, based on his history, it is doubtful he will make it through an entire season without missing significant playing time. I like Philo a lot but he needs to build on his experience and get a lot more game reps before he can be counted on to be a true, reliable difference maker for us. So we are in sort of no man's land at the QB position. Our proven, best talent, most likely will not survive a full season but our staff is determined to play him until he has to be dragged off the field and only go to the future star when we absolutely have to.

I think we would be well served to develop a plan to play both and maximize our chances of having a successful 2025 season.

Go Jackets!

Prior to Kings injury he averaged 9 rushing attempts a game in 19 games

You said Top 5 out of 138 teams in FBS. It does not matter who is on a team is January, it only matters in September.

As far as the ACC we were 6th in total offense, We were 8th is scoring offense. In FBS we were 33 in total offense. We were 58 in FBS scoring. Getting to Top 5 would be remarkable.

As I said it is likely in the ACC.

But the virtual bet is on and I Hope You Win. Just is not realistic.

Not realistic? 😂 kind of like your prediction of UGA to beat Tech by 20+? We were without our starting QB half the season and were in the top quarter of college football with a schedule that was 20th in SOS.

Eli I agree with you. But there are a few that it doesn’t do any good to argue with about things. College football is not what it was 20 years ago, it’s to the point with the portal you have tob rebuild every year. I remember before the season people were saying with our schedule we could be improved if we won 7 games. And some getting all the injuries during the season and those 7 wins were during the regular season. I really don’t care about the bowl games when so many players opt out and move to the portal.

Top 5 in the FBS is an incredibly high bar. I am not saying we should not have a good offense at all. To get to Top 5 so many things must go your way. No injuries to key players. That is unusual on its own.

Game flow as well. There are games our staff wants to limit possessions which limit scoring and yards. How good our defense plays is also significant.

Look at one player like Ward or McCord did at Miami and Syracuse. They were two of the top offenses in the country this season. There will be teams that bring in a very good QB that are already good making their offenses great.

We should be in the top tier of the ACC with Clemson and SMU. Louisville always has an excellent offense under Brohm.

There is just so much that must go right to be top 5 that the odds are very much stacked against achieving that spot.

If we do we should have a really really good season.

Y'all stop picking on Root. There are glass half full people, glass half empty people and then there is root. He doesn't even have a glass. But he is still a good Tech fan

I suggest that when the qb is the money down rb because the rest of running game is not effective, the qb can't be effective at passing and running because he will be nursing injury all season.
23 all year our rushing defense was terrible.
When we had Dontae in last games of 23, the qb no longer was 50-75% of run game (unless a rb broke a long run. Gradually after Dontae we had 2 rb with about 150 yds and the qb getting 50 yds ON FEWER CARRIES. The uga game was great bimut the defense gave up 275cyds on ground. Early in year qb was rushing for 100 yds and throwing for 200 yds.

24
Pyron built up his body after 22 and started one 24 game against ND - got roughed up and played a little bit in next game. In ND 50 yds to lead the other 2 rb who got 35.. Zack threw for 260 but got 2 int. Next game he tried hard and got 15 yds in 5 rush attempts ; 75 yds in 22 pass attempts ( 1 int). Philo got PT next game.

At UGA and Vandy Jamal was running the ball hard on off tackles - with less jump steps= plant foot and getting first downs - still was electric - caught swing passes.
Still had king trying to utm , but vandy was ready. Got busted in n×××s Still threw darts at goal line for 3 tds.

25
Need a bigger back that can get YAC.
Got a injured rb returning and got portal rb = check
Need defense to not regress ( dl needs to keep being angry violent men) = adding clemson de and ucf dt = check
Need the young athletic OL to step up
Got lots of raw talent that will be our future= i am going with check. .
Need to call fewer money down plays where the qb has to run for first down so qb

No, and wont likely be fired seeing as uga still did pretty well and he's best buds with Kirby. Much ado about nothing at this point
The whole thing is just funny. They had the 11th ranked offense in FEI. We were 27th. It’s fascinating to think that’s a good move.

Look at what Ohio State did with Chip Kelly - that’s the kind of move they could make.

In general I’d have to admit that it would be tough to pass up a coordinator job over there but honestly next year we have the better QB and WR rooms already and potentially OL as well (depending how portal shakes out). On paper they’ll have the better RB rooms already but ours will be legit. I assume they’ll have the better TE rooms already by a lot.

But overall if I was Faulkner I’d stick it out at least another year with this offense - especially over there’s. Could be looking at a HC look with the numbers we should be putting up on the 2025 schedule.

I'll be surprised if 2 things don't happen:

1. Bobo is not fired
2. We keep our O coordinator if Bobo is fired

I like Buster, but if UGA wants him and pays him, we will lose him. I know Bobo is Kirby's friend, but that will not be much of a factor. UGA fans rightfully blame Bobo for their season woes this year, and Kirby is currently immune to criticism, so he will only solidify his standing with the faithful gaggers by making the move. I'm sure he will make sure Bobo is taken care of financially - a very soft landing.

From what I heard, Pyron was only 70% during the ND game and 40% in the VT game.
