I have a close friend here in NC that is a uga fan. He actually attended Tech for one year but transferred (wanted to go to med school and needed better grades). I told him a couple of years ago that losing his assistant coaches would be the most likely reason they would become less competitive. I would not be surprised to see Kirby make a staff change or two. Coaching churn also hurts recruiting. That team is still one of the best this year but.ND is really good this year.

Yep. Kirby has been badly outcoached several times this year.

But also, what if I told you they actually weren't one of the best teams this year?

That actually, they just beat a bunch of other mediocre conference teams. And we had em beat, but let em off the hook?

Why, sir, if you said that I might be inclined to think you were a professional agitator.

Or a helluva engineer.

That cannot be! The SEC is full of really good teams top to bottom. They had The World’s Hardest Schedule this season.

We have talent but they have way better and way way more talent.

AND WE HAD EM......

When is the next time we will have them down 14 in Athens with 5 minutes to go?

Or

When was last time?

Seems like we have a large group of fans that just shrug and say we deserve to loose to the Dawgs.

We had greatness in hand.

This is more debatable now than it has been in a long time.

We had better talent at OL, WR, QB, TE, and RB was debatable.

Their position groups far exceeded ours on D, but we had guys on the line that could play for anyone. That hasnt been true in a while. And, despite that, we controlled the LOS when they had the ball. I'd take that (effectiveness) over raw talent any day.

Throw in the coaching disparity and I like our chances going forward.

They actually played a very difficult schedule this year. They are a very good but not great team.

OOC they played a good GT team and a very good Clemson team. That is a harder OOC schedule than most FBS teams play.

In Conference they played Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Alabama.

Hating UGA is fine, saying they did not play a hard schedule is BS! When GT is your 6th hardest game you played a tough schedule!

Did I not say they had The World’s Hardest Schedule this year? Can you read?

You are absolutely correct. I took his comment differently than you, however. I thought he was facetiously saying how every team in the SEC says they have the hardest schedule because they play in the SEC.

One point that conveniently gets left out in this discussion is the fact that we were down to our 3rd and 4th string DBs in the 4th quarter. Our 1's and 2's were locking them down in man coverage. to start out the game. There was a reason DCTS was calling prevent in the end even though it was obvious that it wasn't working. We were trying to give all the help we could to our backup's backup in coverage. We couldn't afford to get beat deep and give up a quick score. Credit to the guys for giving it their all, but had we not had so many injured DBs, we probably run the same defense till the end and finish out a dominating victory. DCTS simply was trying to do the best he could with what he had while giving them as much coverage support as possible. We desperately needed our offense to score in the OT's to seal the game for us. Every OT we dropped 8 into coverage to help hide as many holes as possible.

Every SEC team talks about how difficult their schedule is..

UGAg fans have repeatedly stated how difficult their OOC schedule was, and that it was the hardest. I was parodying that meme.

I am not convinced of that, but they did indeed have a typically tough schedule.

OOC the played Clem and GT from the “All Cupcake Conference,” along with TN Tech and UMass. While they made some strides during the year, I don’t know that we couldn’t have beaten Clem in game 1. We finished 7-6, so come on. That OOC schedule is not historic.

In conference, they played Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss. They lost to two of the three. They also played UK, MSU, and Auburn, the bottom three teams in the SEC and who collectively lost 25 games. I think it’s a typical SEC schedule. Pretty tough, but not world beaters.

They really did have a hard schedule this year. But it makes up for all of the years they had a cakewalk during their dynasty run. The SEC East was as weak as it had ever been, hardly ever drew the good teams out of the West, they cancelled a home & home with Oklahoma, and GT was basically an FCS tuneup game the week before the SEC Championship. Doing away with divisions and Texas & OU joining the conference is going to make UGA play a much tougher slate than they’re used to. Along with GT waking up and becoming a real game again. They’ll probably have 4-5 tough games every year instead of 1-2

Yes, it was hard, but not historically so. As I said, they played three top SEC teams *and lost to two of them.* To balance that out, they also played the three worst teams in the conference. That’s 6 of their 8 conference games. Aside from that, they played UF and UT, who lost by the 2nd largest margin in the CFP… so far.

So yeah, it was certainly not easy, but it was not the big bugaboo they have made it out to be.

We’ll see what happens going forward.

I did not think you were serious! I read it as sarcasm. I apologize if I was wrong. I still think it was sarcasm! 🤣
It was both sarcastic (the historic level made of it by mutt fans) and serious (they played Texas (2x), Bama, UT, and Miss in conf and Clemson OOC. Pretty tough, and Ole Miss was likely the toughest, but UGAg got boat raced by them. How is that a credit to wave around at playoff time?

Find a CFP team who played nearly that hard a schedule.

The BCF Toys website (FEI) has three measures of SOS. The Dwags schedule was ranked 5, 1 and 3 by those. No other school has three numbers that low, so it’s legit to say they had the hardest schedule.
