Gtjoebrew scared me into thinking our offenses starts slow and the bend but dont break gives them easy dump passes for 3rd down converions. Having poor field position early in game 1 is bad . Their "poor?" offense could get cheap score of special teams and ball handling miscue.

Going w jerry jacket = this is Ted Roofs year. Rip um up tear um ip. Give um hell tech. That would schock the football world. We have been mediocre on d for a good bit of lsst 10 years

I guess it's simple really. It's about athletes making plays against other athletes. Can our guys make plays or can BC's? Can Ricky or Brad or one of the AB's make a plays in the passing game? Can our OL give the time needed for the play to happen or will BC's guys win those one-on-ones at the LOS? All of the offensive and defensive scheming in the world doesn't prepare for a Deandre Smelter just beating his guy for a back shoulder throw and then breaking a tackle to gain 30 more YAC. Do we have a guy who can do those things this year?

I'm really torn with this strategy. We've done it before with mixed results. When it works, wowza! When it doesn't, it really sets up a very bad tone and team psyche. Lately coach has been more about challenging the guys physically and saying "beat the man in front of you and good things will happen." I think our guys are stronger, faster and have a better understanding of our offense now than a year ago. Plus we have a pretty big chip on our shoulder. I think that bodes well for winning the physical challenge.

Behind FB, SD, and TK on the right side, I could see us establishing the BB right from the start. I heard CPJ talk about some mental errors by the backup QBs during the scrimmage during some unbalanced sets. I love the way we utilized those in '14, and I'm glad we were working on them. Throw AM or EF over on that right side, with MM and DM pounding the rock... look out.

Has anyone ever actually met/seen a BC fan? I actually met a guy who's legit a BC fan. I was shocked. They probably feel that way about GT fans but, who cares, this ain't EagleSwarm.com.

I have nothing of substance to add other than that.;)

There's a good chance our offense will not be running at its best in the early games. Same as in '14. It took a few big Smelter plays for us to beat Wofford in the first game in '14. And, that was with Justin, Laskey, Shaq, and a bunch of good senior AB's. We may need something extra up our sleeve for this first game, especially considering the (perceived) strength of BC's defense.

15 For those defenses that were so fast to ball , the best play would have been one we used in peewee football when we sucked and they were good.

Power right ol run rin right max power right, except only qb knows he is to take one step right and then run naked bootleg left.

Damn it would be nice to be like last of 14. "They cant stopum"

One of my attorneys played BB for BC back around '90. To say he was 6 ft would be a stretch.

Johnson said the team spent a lot of Monday introducing what they expect to see from the Eagles’ offense, which presents the challenge of being led by new people in key positions. Scot Loeffler, formerly the play-caller at Virginia Tech, is the offensive coordinator. Patrick Towles, a graduate transfer who was formerly the starter at Kentucky, is the likely starter at quarterback.

As part of Georgia Tech’s preparations, Johnson said they watched a lot of Virginia Tech film. Johnson said they don’t typically watch film of individual players like Towles.

“It’s more about schemes and what they do,” Johnson said. “I’m sure that they will mix-and-match.”

Johnson said he didn’t think opening the season against an ACC team increased his team’s focus during the summer. Johnson said he thinks last year’s 3-9 record was the motivation.

“No one wants to go through that again,” he said. “That was a real reality check for them. They realized it can happen.”
