Big 10 Refs

I don’t get why everyone thinks Saban is chill on the sidelines… He outbursts if he believes they missed an egregious call. Vanderbilt’s coach was also having outbursts on their side and they were getting the majority of the calls.

Yes, refs will favor a coach who doesn’t get overly upset and is polite the entire game; but the Nick Saban’s & the Kirby Smart’s of the world will be in the back of the refs’ minds the entire game, unlike the polite coach, and that affects how a game is called. It’s just the human psyche. And the coach who is always yelling regardless of what is called will actually hurt his team as the refs will stop believing a word he says and can’t wait for the opportunity to shut him up. CBK isn’t that coach and neither is Saban or Smart or the vast majority of good coaches.

CBK was in the right to get the flag when he did cause at that point in time it no longer felt like the players’ safety was a priority and it was only getting worse. I don’t boo refs but I was booing hard for that one reason. It should be your 1st priority.

It’s on the refs to wonder why a coach/team is upset especially like that. Unfortunately, the refs assumed it was GT’s problem and not theirs. They didn’t change until someone had to step in after the scuffle. That someone continued to help the crew throughout the rest of the game and helped get the game back under control. There’ll be clips and discussions from this game to help better all refs including this crew. Wouldn’t be surprised if some messages are going out right now to make sure other bowl games don’t end up like this one.

I think the refs thought it was going to be a laid-back, enjoyable atmosphere and probably were on holiday break in their minds and took the game for granted.
I wish I could believe you. Refs have gotten worse. All sports not just last night. Watch a Braves game and then tell me the league isn't biased against the Braves (name is "insulting"). MLB screws Atlanta at every chance. NFL is comical.

Stop. Don’t ever encourage harassment of referees. Never acceptable. They are humans who are trying their best in a job that requires perfection. I know many refs who have had to pay for personal security for as long as a year because of fans not being able to let go a loss. Let it go

You really believe MLB Umpires give a crap about the Braves name?

Why aren’t the Kansas City Chiefs screwed all the time

Does Tech have the ability to maintain a list of refs that we refuse to allow to work one of our games?
Yes. I know refs who have been blacklisted from reffing at certain places because the coaches complained. Usually lasts a year or two and then everyone is okay again. Coaches have the most power in the NCAA than any other league when it comes to refs.

This is weird. Super weird. Ya’ll are ridiculous when it comes to officiating. Referees didn’t lose the game to Vandy, just like they didn’t lose the game to UGA. Accepting moral victories and blaming refs for losses is soft as baby ****. And searching refs up on social media and posting pictures of their kids is borderline psychotic. Grow tf up.

All those calls wasn’t even the lead referee’s fault. All the controversial flags came from only one of the referees or at least on one side of the field; and I believe they were even the ones that talked the others into picking up the obvious flag. Most of the referee crew did their job, unfortunately even just one ref can mess up the entire crew’s reputation.

In that case, we should prevent the Athens and Birmingham crews from ever setting foot on the field with the white and gold again. Or at the very least, the refs that made/missed the egregious calls in those two games. It would be imprudent not to.

They are B1G refs. You don’t have to worry about seeing them next year. And if it just so happens that they ref a GT game again, it will have been many years and they’ll have changed and be improved for the next time

+1

Those who "never have" done something always think they'd do better than those who have "been there, done that" at some level.

You’re right. If that is his kid I shouldn’t have posted it. I was making a joke about the ref that was probably out of line. I went back to delete it but couldn’t. Probably already done so by mod (rightfully so).

I don’t know why the calls were blown. Maybe mistakes, maybe incompetence, maybe corruption, maybe bias. I don’t know. But I also don’t know that they will have changed if there is a next time. It would be imprudent to allow the refs that made egregious calls and non-calls on the field for another GT game.

Thank you for your thoughts. The issue as I saw it was uneven penalty calls. The PI on Tobe (?) where he got pushed off on the TD pass was the worst. After that the Tatum foul when he was trying his best with hands up not to interfere and the guy slowed up and they made contact as he was going OOB. Just very ticky-tack, when they weren’t being called both ways that tight. The third was the Vandy punt. The Tech player brushed him, but did push, 5 yards away… and the Vandy player himself went 5 yards and tackled the Tech player having never touched the ball. There was no need to tackle - and I think contact could have been avoided altogether. The correct call, IMPO, was PF in GT for block in the back (due to the slight) push, but a defensive holding on VU (due to the tackle of a player not in possession of the ball). The result should have been offsetting penalties, replay the down.
Sorry, but you're wrong. The Tech guy (#39) pushed the Vandy player in the small of the back. It wasn't a brush or incidental contact. he pushed him in the back and accelerated the contact with Stockton. Personally, I think the defender would have run into Stockton if he weren't touched, but that was negated when he got pushed. That was, unfortunately, the right call in that situation. You guys may not like that, but that was the right call.

We overcame that call. After punting, we held them and they punted back to us. We then threw a pick-6, which is on us.

The refs sucked. They blew a ton of calls. The lack of O-PI on the facemask call on Burrell was BS. Should have been offsetting. The lack of holding against Biggers when we got called for the PI in the redzone was attrocious. The punt...that was on us.

They already know that they worthless like tits on a boar.

Don’t get personal with the referees, including posting names and other personal info, even if you can find it publicly.

It’s just not cool
Someone posted pics of their kids? Really? That's just wrong!

FWIW, the officials names are listed on the 1st page of the box score on ramblinwreck.com. That information is not cloak and dagger stuff.
