The Mets have scouts and executives watching Kyle Wright and Ian Anderson tonight(Mississippi has 9 different MLB team reps. viewing Ian, Christian and Drew).

Noah Syndergaard is the NY Met bait. Edwin Diaz?
I would take Syndergaard in a heartbeat. We need to land 1 of Greinke, Stroman, or Syndergaard imo. If I knew that the Braves would re-sign Bumgarner, I would be happy to have him too.

Looks like Strasburg's schedule will have him missing the Braves. Current rotation looks like this for Mon-Wed (Braves @ Nationals)
Corbin
Scherzer
Sanchez

Scherzer was on a pitch count in start yesterday. Only saw 5 innings. For his standards... a little rusty.

Breaking news (as I type]... Scherzer had some sort of injection today to treat some back pain. Won't throw next day or so. Plan is still to start v Braves. [my comment: this usually means the REAL news is worse. My bet he misses next start, at minimum... Braves dodging bullets :(]

My hope is neither club (Braves or Nationals) are swept this weekend & the current 4.5 game delta is same or smaller come Monday morning.

Good luck in Philly!

Curious what you guys think about the Braves "mental makeup" collectively. Realizing it may be a silly exercise to speculate as fans in our living rooms watching.... but that never stopped me.

I know I counted Phillies out a few weeks ago, but now I'm rethinking things. Perhaps the biggest factor in who wins the NL EAST will be some intangible... like mental toughness.

Trades will be a big thing... but any acquisition will need to assimilate rapidly into locker room too. I've seen it kill teams (see Nats & Papelbon a few seasons ago... for extreme example)

The Nationals have already been through adversity & the pressure that came with it. There was talk of firing the manager & dumping players for rebuild back in May. All that is long ended. There is a lot of confidence on Nats team.

How would you guys characterize the Braves in that regard right now? They are (or will be) feeling the pressure in coming weeks. How do you think they will respond?
